Hydrangeas are a genus with over 75 species and 600 cultivars native to a variety of locations and nations, including Japan, Asia, Indonesia, the Himalayan Mountains, and the Americas. Hortensia is another popular name for hydrangea. Hydrangeas can be grown as vines or trees, although they are most usually cultivated as shrubs. The plants may grow from 1-foot height to over 100 feet tall.


Hydrangeas are a flower that quickly lifts your emotions and brings happiness into your house. These flowers embody the joy and frivolity of summer with their enormous balls of petals, some exceeding 25 cm wide. Fill a vase with a couple stems for an immediate festive vibe.


This plant's lovely blooms are the reason for its popularity. From early spring through late October, the majority put up a show. The huge flowers are available in a wide range of forms, colours, and sizes. Hydrangea flowers come in a variety of colours, including pink, blue, red, white, purple, and green. Hydrangea is derived from the Greek terms "Hydor" which means "water" and "angos" which means "vessel." Which basically translates to "water barrel" when put together. This is due to the fact that hydrangeas are known for their thirsty nature and cup-shaped blooms. Hortensia is a Latinized form of Hortense, a French term.


Hydrangeas may represent a variety of things depending on where you are in the world and what culture you come from. Although the plants are native to numerous different areas across the world, many people think they were initially discovered in Japan. 

The hydrangea is a flower that symbolizes gratitude, grace, and beauty. Because of the large number of blooms and the generous round form, it also exudes luxury. Its colours represent love, peace, and harmony. The flower naturally lends itself to floral arrangements for weddings and birthdays, but it's also appropriate for memorial bouquets.

Japan – According to tradition, the monarch gifted hydrangeas to the family of a girl he adored as a token of his affection.



Hydrangeas were associated with boastfulness, boasting, and vanity throughout the Victorian era. White hydrangeas, in particular. Hydrangeas are utilized on the 4th wedding anniversaries to represent thankfulness and sincere feeling in the United States.
