Your calm can be another's trauma

On the 17th of April, I went walking with my partner. He had the flu, so I suggested we go walking to clear his nostrils and stretch out, which turned out to be a refreshing morning walk. But while on our way back, I noticed a gym, so I decided that we should enter and see what they had to offer. While we were at the entrance, someone approached us and asked if we were keen to know more. We said yes, so he asked us to take a seat, and he would call one of the owners to come and have a talk about their classes, basically what they do. While he came to speak to us, his dog followed him. I had already seen the dog sitting on a mat when we first stood at the entrance, and that was when I decided this was not the gym for me.

But here is the thing: the man who spoke to us at the door saw that I kept looking at the dog, so he asked if I was afraid of dogs, and I said yes. My partner also said she doesn't like dogs in her space. He then replied, saying they have a girl who comes to the gym who also doesn't like dogs, so they take the dog inside when she trains.

I felt exhausted from hearing that because one thing I have noticed with some people who keep pets, especially dogs, is that they always expect everyone to like their pet just the way they love their pet. But you know what? That perspective is wrong, self-centered, and even a bit out of touch. What makes you happy won't necessarily make me happy. It is common sense.

How can I comfortably rest my back on a mat that a dog has just sat on at a gym frequented by numerous individuals from diverse backgrounds, which is already a risky environment? We all know that gyms are one of the easiest places to get skin diseases. Generally, I recommend bringing your mat. He did not consider how to accommodate people with allergies to fur; instead, it was all about him and his dog disregarding others' health (me, me, my dog, my dog, other people can go to hell!). For God's sake, it's a gym.

I don't think I should live with animals in the house. In my opinion, they should have their space outside the main house. In my cultural background, it is customary to refrain from sharing utensils with animals, but even without any cultural beliefs, I would never eat from the same plate as an animal, nor kiss, lick, or feed an animal with the same spoon. I feel very uncomfortable when I see others engaging in such behavior ; at the same time, we need to respect their way of life.

The other day my friend's child kept licking her hamster with her tongue. I am still recovering from the sight of it. This is one of the reasons I don't eat in people's houses or go for dinner when invited, especially those with pets. The boundaries are very thin.

Dog owners need to understand that just because they have a mindset about their dog doesn't mean I should feel safe around it. It's not my dog; it is your dog. Oh, come close; he is not going to hurt you. I don't care! respectfully.

I don't think dogs are friendly; they're wild, and even though it takes a certain environment for that wildness to come out, they also act out because it is their nature to do so. They are not supposed to be around children unsupervised. This is my opinion; yours can be different.

Your Guide To FREE Activities At Dean Castle Country Park, Ayrshire

Dean Castle Kilmarnock: The recently renovated 14th-century stone castle with its historic architecture.

So, the Sunday before Easter Sunday, I was on a little adventure with a friend and her mini-explorer at Dean Castle Country Park in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. Seriously, if you're ever in the area and looking for a brilliant free day out, visit this place. This 200+ acre park has something for everyone, trust me.

Exploring the Historic Dean Castle: A Step Back in Time

The absolute highlight for me? Stepping back in time at the recently done-up 14th-century Dean Castle. You can just feel the history oozing from the stones. It was the ancestral pad of the Boyd Family for over 400 years (yep, it was originally called Kilmarnock Castle). Inside, they've got these incredible collections—think proper old-school European arms and armour, plus a fascinating stash of early musical instruments. Total history geek-out moment. (The Boyd Family, who were Lords of Kilmarnock, played a significant role in Scottish history after being granted these lands by Robert the Bruce in 1316. Their influence spanned centuries, connecting them to events involving James III, the Covenanters, and even Bonnie Prince Charlie.)

Relaxing at the Treehouse Café in the Visitor Centre

We took a breather at the Treehouse Café in the Visitor Centre – lovely spot with cracking views over the park. The child had strawberry ice cream, which she quickly got tired of eating real quick. I guess she wasn't really hungry for ice cream, just the idea of always getting a treat when visiting a place.

It's an ideal location for satisfying your caffeine craving and engaging in conversation. Plus, it's open daily, so you can always walk in.

Discovering Nature and More at the Rural Life Centre & Woodland Walks

We also had a wander around the Rural Life Centre, which was surprisingly interesting, all about sustainable living and that. Then we hit the woodland walks – so peaceful and a great chance to stretch the legs. And of course, the little one was in her element at the Adventure Playground, burning off all that kid energy. (Things to do with kids Kilmarnock definitely includes this playground!)
Dean Castle: Free Entry and Daily Tours

Dean Castle itself, right in the heart of the park, is free to get in. It's open every day (we were there on a Sunday; times are 10 am-4 pm, last entry 3:30 pm), and you can even join a free tour of the castle. (The castle's collections include a wide array of European arms and armour, offering a fascinating look at historical weaponry. The early musical instruments collection is also extensive and quite unique for a castle of this size.)

A Castle with a Story: The Boyd Family and Scottish History

This place has some serious stories to tell. The Boyd Family got the land way back in 1316. It's linked to some big names in Scottish history – Robert the Bruce, Bonnie Prince Charlie, and even Robert Burns. It's now looked after by East Ayrshire Leisure, and they've done a cracking job with the recent renovations. Oh, and get this – there's a local legend about the head of the 4th Earl of Kilmarnock being kept in one of the towers. Spooky. (History of the Boyd Family is deeply intertwined with Kilmarnock and Ayrshire.)

Accessibility and Facilities at Dean Castle Country Park

It's also important to note that the park offers wheelchair accessibility, despite some limitations in the castle itself. There are lots of parking spaces and a wee gift shop. Honestly, Dean Castle Country Park is an excellent choice for a day out in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. I enjoy visiting castles. This is not one of my favorites, nor is it among my top three; at the moment, Dumbarton Castle remains at the top of my list.

Jewel Thief on Netflix: Beautiful Mess

    Netflix Jewel Thief Poster

I just watched Jewel Thief on Netflix. It's a 2025 adventure/action thriller all about guys who steal jewelry and costly items. An African prince owns a rare, valuable jewel. This jewel was being displayed at an art museum in Mumbai. The main character is a guy who's had a falling out with his family because he's a thief. He gets roped into this whole situation because these bad guys threaten his dad, who's a doctor.

Here's how it starts: these villains come to his dad and say they want to donate to his clinic. See, his dad runs a charity and only charges like 10 rupees to treat everyone, so they donate a huge amount of money. The dad's grateful, of course. But while the main bad guy is still talking to the dad, the other guy who hangs around with him takes the brother of the thief outside. He tells him that the money they just gave his dad is dirty and that they'll report the dad to the police if they don't find his brother, the thief.

So, he had to go find his brother to stop his dad from getting into trouble. Now, this part of the movie just didn't sit right with me. If you're running a charity, you're going to receive donations from a variety of sources, so the idea of someone reporting you to the police over a single transaction seems quite absurd. Furthermore, it seems ludicrous to threaten to report someone after you've just given them the money. They could have just as easily reported to the police that someone had sent their charity a substantial amount of money from a suspicious account. It felt really weak and they should've come up with a much better reason for him to get involved. I mean, the dad could just report the transaction himself and say he has no idea where it came from, which he doesn't.

My £4 Skin Savior: The Skin Saints Vitamin C Tonic for Effortless Glow

Hand holding Skin Saints Vitamin C Tonic

For the past three months, I've been using the Skin Saints Vitamin C Glow Skin Tonic. For someone who doesn't follow a daily, multi-step skincare routine every single night (and I'll be honest, that's me), finding effective yet fuss-free products is key.

My skincare routine is straightforward. I only wear makeup once a week, usually on a Saturday or Sunday. The rest of the week, my skin gets to breathe freely. I genuinely believe this makeup-free time has significantly contributed to the overall health and balance of my skin.

I firmly believe that healthy skin originates from within. What I eat plays a huge role in how my skin looks and feels, and it's something I actively pay attention to.

While I appreciate skincare products, many of them are just mass-market products with logos that don't do anything special for our skin. Some are even harming us. I don't get all hyped up about skincare products.

That's why I decided to share this post about the Skin Saints Vitamin C Glow Skin Tonic. If you're already in a good place with your skin and are simply looking for a lightweight product to maintain that healthy glow and boost radiance, then this tonic might just be for you.

This tonic is incredibly easy to incorporate into even the most minimal routine. It feels refreshing on the skin and absorbs quickly without any residue. The product feels slightly sticky at first, but it quickly dries. The subtle citrus scent is also a lovely little pick-me-up in the morning or evening.

For me, this tonic isn't about correcting major skin concerns. Instead, it's the perfect addition to enhance what's already there. It provides a noticeable boost in radiance, leaving my skin looking healthy, vibrant, and with that coveted "lit-from-within" glow.

If you value simplicity in your skincare and are seeking a gentle yet effective way to maintain your skin's natural radiance, especially if you already have a healthy base, I recommend giving the Skin Saints Vitamin C Glow Skin Tonic a try. It's a fantastic way to effortlessly keep your skin looking its best.

My Simple Steps with Skin Saints Vitamin C Glow Skin Tonic

Incorporating the Skin Saints Vitamin C Glow Skin Tonic into my routine couldn't be easier. I typically use it once a day, in the morning after cleansing my face. On the rare occasions I do a more thorough evening cleanse (especially after wearing makeup), I might use it then too, but morning is my go-to.

Denim Cargo Pants Trend: How To Style The Y2K Comeback

    Denim cargo pant

Let's talk about a trend that's been bubbling under for a while and is now officially back with a bang: denim cargo pants. Yes, you heard that right! Those many-pocketed bottoms you might remember from the early 2000s are no longer confined to the history books. They've had a serious glow-up, and honestly?

I took these photos more than a month ago. It was a Sunday. I and my partner had just left church, and even though it was still pretty cold outside (Glasgow never really gives us a break, does it?), we were both craving some sunshine. We decided to head over to Springburn Park just to get some fresh air and take in the day.

I was wearing this deep blue cargo denim from Know Fashion Style. Underneath that, I had on a knitwear sweater for warmth, topped with a black puff jacket from Femme Luxe to block that wild Glasgow wind. I really like the fit, and I can already think of several ways I’ll be styling the pants next time.

The resurgence of Y2K fashion has been undeniable lately, but the return of denim cargos has us feeling a particular kind of nostalgic excitement. Think back – these were the go-to for a generation, offering a blend of practicality and a certain cool, laid-back vibe. But just like everything else, it cycles back into style.

Sure, the signature baggy silhouette and those oh-so-useful pockets are still key features. But the denim cargo pant has evolved beyond basic khaki and camo (though let's be real, those classic shades still hold a certain appeal!). Now, we're seeing them in all sorts of washes, from classic indigo to edgy dark hues, and even incorporating details like interesting hardware. The pockets held my keys, sanitizer, cards, and more. carrying a bag becomes a choice.

And the styling? Forget just band tees and sneakers (unless that's your vibe, in which case, go for it!). The denim cargo pant of 2024 is surprisingly versatile. We've been seeing some seriously elevated looks coming straight from Fashion Weeks and our favorite celebs. Think unexpected pairings like fitted corset tops, sleek heels peeking out from under the hems, and sophisticated outerwear like longline trench coats. It's all about creating that perfect balance between the casual utility of the cargos and more polished pieces.

The beauty of this trend is its inherent effortlessness. Want to keep it low-key? Throw on a simple tee and some trainers, and the denim cargos instantly deliver that cool, understated look. But the potential for dressing them up is truly exciting.

Can You Travel the World Without Posting on Instagram? You Can’t—Because Sälen’s Beauty Is Exceptional

Golden hour over pine forests and lakes in Sälen, Sweden

The Instagram Dilemma: Travel for Self or for Show?

The desire to post for social media makes it difficult to question if my travel experience comes before photographic opportunities. Social media has merged the traditional activity of memory creation into a contemporary digital storytelling practice. Upon visiting Sälen which stands as Sweden’s pure alpine treasure—you will quickly understand the answer with absolute clarity – especially when you choose to Hyra Hus Sälen ( rent a house Sälen ) for a more immersive experience. It exists to allow people to share their awe with others rather than making an exhibition of themselves. The desire to capture images shifts from ego-driven wishes toward inviting exploration for those who will experience the same level of admiration.

    Sälen: Sweden’s Picture-Perfect Secret

Situated at the center of Dalarna region Sälen serves mainly as a skiing destination yet its beauty stretches farther than snow sport popularity. Sälen offers a natural landscape that includes sloping grounds with dense pine forests and glassy lakes and picturesque villages existing as a moving work of art. If you wish to experience slow relaxation while immersed in nature this place provides tranquility for all explorers. Although unknown to international travelers Sälen tends to create strong bonds with all of its guests who later return with appealing images worth sharing. Even Google has probably left this destination untouched so you can discover it as if it were a hidden secret.

Sceneries That Demand a Click: Nature, Light & Nordic Charm

The three magical elements of Nordic sunrise hues and dust-like snowflakes and forest trail silence continuously plea for photographs at Sälen. Mother Nature offers here such pristine illumination that you don’t require any digital makeover. The area creates magic during every season when summer brings hiking opportunities and wildflowers and autumn displays earthy hues while winter turns the lands into a fantasy winter wonderland. Instagram-worthy? Absolutely. These views inspire more than just awe in you so sharing your experience through social media posts becomes a natural response for which you should not feel any guilt.

Beautiful Photos of Seamill Sandy Beach, North Ayrshire, Scotland

Golden Hour Painting Seamill Beach, North Ayrshire, Scotland

On our way to Largs, Seamill Beach just screamed "photo opportunity!" Seriously, the views across to the Isle of Arran and down the Firth of Clyde are breathtaking. We had to pull over and soak it all in for a good half hour. And if you know me, I can't resist a good beachcombing session – those beautifully shaped stones just call my name. I'm a bit of a stone collector, so I was happily picking out the lovely ones.

Seamill actually gets its name from one of its oldest buildings—the Sea Mill, which is this old grain watermill that was even in a map from way back in 1654, made by Johannes Blaeu in Amsterdam.

The village has a golf club called West Kilbride Golf Club—full 18-hole course and even a putting green if you're just practicing.

For those planning a stop, Seamill Beach is on the Ayrshire coast, near Seamill and West Kilbride. It's a mix of sand and rocks, perfect for a stroll along the Ayrshire Coastal Path. Bird watchers, keep your eyes peeled. Getting there is easy via the A737, or the Glasgow bus drops you right in Seamill. There's a car park at the end of Hyndman Road. Nearby, you'll find the Seamill Hydro with its restaurant and bars. This hotel that opened in 1880, back when “hydropathic” places were super trendy for like health and wellness stuff. West Kilbride, a short drive away, has shops and more eateries, plus a train station with Glasgow links. And for the dog owners out there, your furry pals are welcome year-round. Don't forget to check out the rock pools at low tide.

The Best Way To Celebrate Easter Monday

Easter Monday: Keeping the Resurrection Spark Alive.

Okay, so Easter Sunday was epic, right? The chocolate coma is probably still real. But hold up, the celebration isn't over! Today is Easter Monday, and it's way more than just a bonus day off school (though, let's be honest, that's a major perk!). It's a continuation of the most mind-blowing event in history: the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Think about it: Sunday was the earth-shattering news – He's alive! Monday is like the day the reality really starts to sink in, the echoes of that incredible moment still ringing. While the Bible doesn't give us a play-by-play of what exactly happened on that specific Monday, the spirit of it is all about the aftermath, the dawning realization of what the Resurrection truly means.

One story that totally captures this vibe is the Road to Emmaus, found in Luke 24:13-35. Picture this: two of Jesus' followers are walking, feeling totally gutted and confused after everything that went down. Suddenly, this stranger starts walking alongside them, and they don't even recognize it's Jesus! He breaks down the scriptures for them, explaining how the Messiah had to suffer and rise again. It's not until he breaks bread with them that their eyes are opened. Boom! It's Him! This story is pure Easter Monday feels – the gradual understanding, the presence of Jesus even when we don't realize it, and the joy that explodes when we finally get it.

Easter Magic with Friends: A Day of Laughter and Love

Happy Sunday, everyone. I Hope you're all enjoying a peaceful day. My weekend took an unexpected and absolutely delightful turn yesterday.

Originally we planned a day out with a friend from Ukraine on Friday, but life happens, and my amazing partner shifted things to Saturday. And what a Saturday it was!

Our adventure began by picking up our friend and her little one, and our first stop was a magical Easter event for her child. Imagine an Easter bunny hunt with clues… at a real castle! We spent the morning exploring Dundonald Castle, a historic castle that I can't wait to share more about in my next post (stay tuned for those castle pics!). Guiding the little explorer through the clues to find the Easter Bunny was such a joy.

From Dundonald castle, we journeyed to the refreshing Seamill Beach. The coastal views were stunning. We spent a lovely time by the water, with little hands and I excitedly collecting stones along the shore. Of course, there were plenty of photos captured to remember the moment. A little picnic of oranges, apples, and other treats kept our energy levels up.

But the day wasn't over yet. Next on our itinerary was the incredible Kelburn Castle and Estate. Let me tell you, this place was the highlight. I am bursting to share the unique beauty and charm of Kelburn with you all very soon. Trust me, it's something special.

Our exploration continued to the Largs Yacht Haven, another picturesque spot, followed by a brief visit to a bustling largs city center. By this point, the Scottish chill was definitely setting in.

We then made our way back, dropped off our friend and her little one, and made a quick pit stop at Tesco for some essentials before finally heading home. My legs were definitely feeling the effects of all the walking, especially around the castle grounds, but honestly, it was all worth it for such a memorable day.

Today, being Sunday, has been much more relaxed. I enjoyed some inspiring preaching and even shared some style posts earlier. Now, I'm soaking up the last of the sunshine, recharging for the week ahead.

I'm curious, what are your plans for today? Wishing you all a lovely and restful Sunday.
