Jewel Thief on Netflix: Beautiful Mess

Netflix Jewel Thief Poster

I just watched Jewel Thief on Netflix. It's a 2025 adventure/action thriller all about guys who steal jewelry and costly items. An African prince owns a rare, valuable jewel. This jewel was being displayed at an art museum in Mumbai. The main character is a guy who's had a falling out with his family because he's a thief. He gets roped into this whole situation because these bad guys threaten his dad, who's a doctor.

Here's how it starts: these villains come to his dad and say they want to donate to his clinic. See, his dad runs a charity and only charges like 10 rupees to treat everyone, so they donate a huge amount of money. The dad's grateful, of course. But while the main bad guy is still talking to the dad, the other guy who hangs around with him takes the brother of the thief outside. He tells him that the money they just gave his dad is dirty and that they'll report the dad to the police if they don't find his brother, the thief.

So, he had to go find his brother to stop his dad from getting into trouble. Now, this part of the movie just didn't sit right with me. If you're running a charity, you're going to receive donations from a variety of sources, so the idea of someone reporting you to the police over a single transaction seems quite absurd. Furthermore, it seems ludicrous to threaten to report someone after you've just given them the money. They could have just as easily reported to the police that someone had sent their charity a substantial amount of money from a suspicious account. It felt really weak and they should've come up with a much better reason for him to get involved. I mean, the dad could just report the transaction himself and say he has no idea where it came from, which he doesn't.

Then, the second thing that bugged me: they finally manage to get on the same flight as the prince after they mess with his private jet so it can't fly. They slip something into the prince's drink, and he's in serious pain. So, they call a doctor who happens to be one of the bad guys. This fake doctor tells the air hostess that the prince has a medical emergency and he needs to speak to the pilot. The air hostess, without hesitation, escorts him directly to the pilot. That's just not how it works in real life. Pilots don't talk to random doctors. Doctors on a flight only speak to the air hostesses, and the hostesses communicate with the pilots. It's a security thing; you don't just wander up to the cockpit.

I honestly think this could have been a brilliant movie if they'd just put a bit more thought into the details. The visuals are great, and the acting is top-notch, but they got some really basic facts wrong, and these were major parts of the story. I enjoyed watching it in some ways, but I was also pretty disappointed. I'd still recommend giving it a go, but it is predictable. Overall, it's a 2025 adventure/action thriller.

Movie summary:

The movie itself is about this master thief who takes on a mission to steal this legendary African diamond, the Red Sun. What starts as a carefully planned heist quickly turns into a dangerous game of double-crosses and shifting loyalties. The actor, Khan, plays Rehan Roy, a well-known jewel thief who's been working abroad after his dad (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) disowned him for his career. This rich art collector with criminal connections, Rajan (Jaideep Ahlawat), wants the Red Sun diamond and threatens Rehan’s family to get him back home and help him with the heist.

  2. I don't know if I'm the only person in the world who doesn't have Netflix :D I used to have it, but now I don't need it because I don't have time to watch it. Unless it's cartoons or songs for children :) When my son grows up I'll definitely go back to cinematography because I simply love movies! I used to watch them addictively. I don't know this title but it sounds interesting and I'd love to watch it. Thank you for the inspiration!

    1. I don't always have time for Netflix and I am a bit picky with movies. I don't like wasting my time. I like realistic plots and directing. Netflix doesn't upload all new movies; they also upload old movies. It can get so boring on their platform sometimes.

  8. Hay detalles que a las personas que no conocen algo les puede parecer real. Pero en el caso de conocerlo el mas mínimo detalle no pasa inadvertido, es algo que los guionistas debían tener en cuenta.

    Saludos.

  10. That sounds like a movie we might enjoy (even if I sometimes get annoyed at obvious plot holes or "mistakes") but action/ adventure tends to go over well in our house.

“Lavish Your Best On The Lord” Sunday, May 18, 2025

Key Verse “Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her” (Mark 14:9). Text —Mark 14:3-9 Message To lavish your best on the Lord, start by giving Him your whole heart. Then use your unique gifts and abilities to serve Him. This could include anything from singing in the choir to teaching at Sunday school. Even if it’s hard or uncomfortable, give your best to the Lord. Take inspiration from the woman in our today’s Bible text who poured out her costly oil. Like David, she decided to offer to the Lord that which cost her something (2 Samuel 24:24). The hymn writer Frances Havergal wrote, “Take my life, and let it be Consecrated Lord to thee.” Christ is our perfect example of giving; He gave His life for us, and we have no reason to withhold our best from Him. So, let us give our time, talents and treasures, even in the most difficult times, because the difficult times are the best times to give. Never mind the side-talks of those that see it as a waste but make sure you give yourself first before other things. When you give your best, you’re laying up treasures in heaven. Quote Christ is our perfect example of giving Challenge Start by giving your life to Christ. Prayer for today Lord, please give me the grace to give my best to you.
