Getting Your Body Ready For Winter : Stay fit and healthy all year round

Winter isn’t typically a time we think of as perfect for self-improvement. You’re usually just trying to settle down and enjoy yourself after a long summer of fun with your friends and money-making. But winter is a crucial time of the year for your health and safety, and it’s time to pay attention to what it can do to your body.
So you did well for your summer body, getting yourself into a happy and healthy shape for hitting the beach in, but now the winter is well on its way. That means you’ve got some work to do to prepare yourself for colder temperatures and shorter days. You want to live as happily and healthily as possible during the darker time of the year, and this post is here to help you out with just that!
Winter can make you feel like you’re up against a geyser of cold, so be prepared for it! (Image)

Be Aware of Your Diet
Your diet needs to change as the seasons do, to make sure you’re getting a regular intake of all the right nutrients and vitamins, and that you’re not wasting food that could be put to better use in other weathers. For example, in the summer, you don’t need as many foods that have Vitamin C and D in them, but in the winter, you’re going to need these in spades.

An apple a day will still work wonderfully here, with plenty of Vitamin C to fight off colds and flu. You’re also going to need more leafy greens, to make sure you’re packed out with all the necessary energy to get through the colder days.

Get Weight Lifting
Weight lifting is going to build your muscles a lot stronger, meaning you won’t feel the cold as much as usual, and it’s going to warm you up perfectly in the process. So why not look into using the services of Ultimate Performance here? Find yourself a good personal trainer, seeing as this is a sudden change in your health habits, and get through the winter a lot better as a result.

Be Sure to Get Outside More
The sun isn’t around for as long as it usually would be, and because of this, you’re going to have to get out more and more during the day. You want to be able to soak up all the vitamin boosters and happy chemicals its rays help you to produce whilst you can, and then go back inside to enjoy the warmth of your home. When the sun isn’t around, it’s very easy for a person to fall into something like seasonal depression, so be sure you’re not letting this happen to you.

Remember, your body should get ready for winter whilst it still can, seeing as autumn is quickly fading away from us. Once it does, the cold shouldn’t get to you as much this year as it has in the past, seeing as you’ve combatted so well against it!

  3. Excellent tips here. And yes paying attention to ones diet. I do allow myself sugar or more of it between Halloween and New Years but the rest of the year I try to lay low when it comes to sugar and white starches.

    1. I remember my hygiene lecturer in the university saying we need to take walk outside for 1hr everyday in the cold. She said it is very important. Tho, I can't walk for one hour but I can do 30 mins.

  14. Getting outside more is great advice! This dropping temperature can persuade us to stay indoors, but that's not what our bodies want, I'm sure! :)

  17. Thanks for sharing the great tips. We often put a lot of emphasis on getting into shape for summer and forget about the winter, when we really shouldn't.

  20. Certainly, the dark sky and the cold air make it difficult to get out of bed, let alone get up and go for a walk. This is a helpful article..

“Trust Him For That Touch” Sunday, June 15, 2025

Key Verse “And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God” (Luke 13:13). Text — Luke 13:10-17 Message Social engineers have pointed out the power of touch in human relationships. They describe it as one of the most effective means of social connection, but they fail to understand why it is so. Recent advances in science have now revealed that when you touch something you leave your DNA on it. The DNA is the hereditary material inherited from your parents; it is what makes you who you are. When Jesus touched that woman therefore, He left a part of Himself on her. Does anyone still wonder why she was made instantly whole? Christ’s touch on your spirit straightens you up from the crookedness inherited from Adam’s disobedience. His touch on your mind removes the confusion and afflictions of your troubled existence. And, as with the woman, Christ’s touch on your body is all you require for healing and health. You must however believe He has both the power and the willingness to perform it. Faith is the unfailing arm that lays hold upon God’s possibilities, therefore have faith in God. On this World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, may God bless the old people. Quote Christ’s touch on your spirit straightens you up Challenge Dare to believe in a faithful God. Prayer for today Holy Father, touch and make me whole, in Jesus’ name.
