Now, about the zoo. I almost entered, I really did. I walked through the front door and immediately knew this was not going to work for me. I cannot stand the smell of animals. I don't even go near the animal food section in Tesco because of the smell, so imagine me walking into a zoo. The smell was exactly what I was trying to avoid, so I turned around and left immediately. No shame in knowing your limits. I went back outside and carried on walking around the park instead, taking in all the greenery and watching some people playing football. I actually loved that part of my visit because there was something so simple about just wandering around, breathing in the fresh air and letting my mind settle. I also had my first ever taste of potatoes with curry that day, and honestly, it wasn't bad at all. Calderglen Country Park is on Strathaven Road in St Leonards, East Kilbride, G75 0QZ, with parking facilities including a main car park and accessible parking. There is plenty to do whether you want a peaceful walk, a family day out, a picnic, some food at the Courtyard Café, a little adventure with the children, golf, nature photography or simply somewhere to escape after work. For me, though, it was just a late afternoon visit that turned into a really lovely memory. Sometimes that is all you need.

I am surprised that you don't like the smell of the animals..such a lovely park! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I know, I’m probably in the minority there. The park really was lovely though, and thankfully the fresh air made up for the animal smells.
DeleteA pretty place there and some of the trees in blossom, they do look good.
ReplyDeleteSo I presume you don't have a cat or dog seeing as you don't care for animal smell, Melody. Those I must admit a Zoo has a stronger smell especially if the animals are in a bit of a crowed area and not out in the open with large areas for them to move in. I wouldn't like a crowded zoo smell either.
Thank you, Margaret. Yes, I don't have a cat or dog, mainly because I'm not a fan of the smell. I agree with you about zoos too, some can have quite a strong smell when the animals are crowded together. I think having plenty of open space makes such a difference.
DeleteSo beautiful place! I love these photos :)
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteReturning to the park in spring is so pleasant—the fresh greenery, the blossoming trees, and even the cloudy sky. I felt like I was transported there for a moment.
ReplyDeleteI understand your aversion to the smell of animals; it’s quite distinctive, and everyone has a different level of sensitivity.
I also try to avoid the pet food aisles.
It’s lovely taking a walk with you! Thank you, and have a great week!
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed our walk too. Have a wonderful and relaxing week ahead.
DeleteSpring really does make the park feel special, especially with the fresh greenery and blossoming trees. I’m glad you felt like you were there for a moment. And yes, the pet food aisles have a smell of their own too. It was lovely having you along for the walk. Have a wonderful week too.
DeleteThis spot is gorgeous and I can see why you would find it a perfect spot for a break. But if it was me, I would have headed to the zoo. But you are spot on -- it is wise and no shame in knowing your limits. In your case, I'd have steered clear too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jeanie. I couldn't stand it but the zoo entrance looks beautiful.
DeleteVery nice place for the afternoon relax. I love the pucture of you on the bench. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I enjoyed the social feel of this park.
DeleteSo beautiful Melody!

DeleteThat first photo is gorgeous. I could spend days there. It is so pretty and inviting. I'm surprised you don't like the smell of the zoo. I know some places can be overwhelming with the odors. However, your day looks so relaxing and peaceful with the park. Thank you for sharing with SITAR and have a lovely Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThe smell is so strong. I get really uncomfortable.
DeleteLovely photos, lovely park, lovely blossoms.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIt's great to see you enjoying the beautiful Calderglen Country Park. What a place to explore with all the paths and flowers. Looks like you had perfect weather too!
ReplyDelete(I'm not one who can easily stand the smell of animals either).
Thank you, Granny Marigold. It really is a lovely place to wander around, especially when the weather is good. I’m glad I’m not the only one who struggles with the smell of animals, though. Some smells are definitely not for me.
DeleteIt's beautiful there: greenery and blooming trees. It's a shame summer is ending and those colors have disappeared :(
ReplyDeleteMelody, I send you my regards and wish you a nice new week!
Thank you so much. It really was beautiful with all the greenery and flowers around. It’s always a little sad when summer starts to fade and the colours disappear, but I’m looking forward to seeing what autumn brings. Wishing you a lovely new week too, and sending my regards.

ReplyDeleteIt really is a gorgeous place.
DeleteLindo parque. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteIt's a really beautiful place.
DeleteThis park looks like a great place to explore, Melody, and the trees look like they provide ample shade. You must have been walking on a cool day considering the heat wave in the UK and other countries and you were wearing a jacket.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Beatrice. It really is a lovely place to explore, and the trees provide so much shade, which made the walk very comfortable. It was actually a cooler day when I visited, so the jacket was definitely needed. I was grateful for the cooler weather, especially with how warm it had been elsewhere.
DeleteREALLY beautiful images from your special trip!! the flowers and trees are just too lovely for words. thank you for checking in today...and leaving such a kind comment!!

Thank you so much. It really was such a lovely place to spend some time, and I was genuinely happy to be there. I’m glad you enjoyed coming along through the photos.
DeleteThanks for the fantastic photos. I won't visit a zoo unless the gorillas and lions shower
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I completely understand that, especially after smelling some of the animals. I think I’ll stick to admiring the gorillas and lions from a safe distance too.
DeleteThis place looks beautful!

It really is beautiful. I loved how peaceful and green it was, and it was such a lovely place to spend a little time away from everything.
It really was such a lovely way to end the workday. The greenery and old house made the whole place feel a little magical. I believe the trees you’re asking about are rhododendrons. They were so beautiful in bloom, and I can see why they caught your attention. Thank you for noticing them.
DeleteThat is a gorgeous park, especially since it was June and the trees were blooming. I love how your shirt matched the tree. And it's always good to know and accept your limits. Happy start to another new week. And hurrah, your post showed up in my feed again.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. June really was the perfect time to visit with everything in bloom; my shirt matched the tree. I’m glad my post showed up in your feed again too. Wishing you a lovely start to the new week.

DeleteIt looks like. fabulous place to visit, so lush and very charming. As far as the animal smell goes, I'm with you. I have terrible allergies and one whiff and I'm out. Knowing your limits is priceless!! And beautiful photos as always!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. It really was such a lush and charming place, and I’m glad I’m not the only one who has to know their limits around animal smells. Sometimes one whiff is enough to make you want to leave. I’m glad you enjoyed the photos.
DeleteLiving in Munich near Hellabrun... loved being in the Zoo.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing . Greetings by Heidrun ❤️
Thank you, Heidrun. It must be lovely living so close to Hellabrunn Zoo and having a place like that nearby to visit. I’m glad you enjoyed the post.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much. It really was a lovely day for a walk, and I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. It was nice to slow down and take in everything along the way.
DeleteBeautiful place. Its really bad You cant stand a smell of animal.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It really is a beautiful place. I know, I wish I could enjoy being around the animals more, but some smells are just too much for me.
DeleteI really did enjoy your pictures. Everything looked so fresh and green and COOL! It is 99 here today but it feels like 109. The sunlight is so bright, when I wear sunglasses, it is as if I am not wearing any.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful location with endless evidences of our creative God.
ReplyDeleteMost definitely no shame in knowing our limits dear Melody, and you certainly saw some gorgeous places on your getaway. Loved looking at everything and I thank you so much for sharing them with us. Happy rest of the week to you :)
