For my birthday outfit, I wore a beautiful yellow dress, but you know what? I changed into a black outfit before we entered the boat to Loch Leven Castle. If there’s one thing I really look good in, it’s yellow—I mean, you all told me, and I appreciate your words.
As part of my birthday wish list was to spend most of my time in nature, we also went to two more castles the next day. One I have shared with you is Newark Castle, and the other one I have not shared on the blog yet, but the name is Bothwell Castle. And guess what? My partner already made reservations—we are finally visiting the most visited castle and the most talked-about city in Scotland: Edinburgh Castle.

I have been to Edinburgh several times, but you know what? I’ve taken photos in front of the castle, but I have never entered it. I mean, look at me—I was like, “£22 just to enter a castle?” But I give it to them—even the view in front of the castle is amazing. But now that we are members of histroc scotland walla we get to enter for free isnt that lovely? yes it is.
My partner and I have decided to read about locations before we visit them, so no more learning about everything on sight and then reading more about it later to share. He said he wants to know the must-sees and understand everything while touring the locations we travel to.
We have to travel to Edinburgh after attending church, and the drive should be about one hour. After church, get a bite, and then start heading out this Sunday. I can’t wait to share the photos with you all.
One thing is sure—when I strolled around the castle, the streets leading to it were hilly but beautiful. It's like an old village. Well, let me not bore you now that I don’t have recent photos, but you can check out my first trip to Edinburgh—this time, you’ll be seeing many beautiful photos of the surrounding area and inside the castle. My partner takes the best photos, and he has mastered the art of photographing me. I’ll now call it the “Act of Taking Melody Jacob Photos”—an act of patience, skillfulness, and multi-shot dedication, all to make me happy. Hahahaha.
Anyway, before I digress—I got pairs of boxers to wear at home. But after my birthday and the second castle adventure, I thought, maybe wear something casual: a pair of light blue boxer shorts and an oversized light blue shirt, which I took from my partner. He was like, “Don’t stain it with your makeup.” But wait—I’ve never stained any of his stuff with makeup, except one polo he rubbed on my face while trying to hug me due to his height. Also, I don’t usually wear his clothes—I mean, why is he such a huge man? Well, I forgive him for saying that. Hahahaha.
I already couldn’t wait to wear my new Wellington boots. I wanted to wear them just because I love rain boots. Maybe I might get another pair in a different color, since it rains a lot in Scotland. The weather forecast for Sunday shows rain, but we are not salt—we’ll still visit Edinburgh Castle.
I haven’t decided what to wear yet, but trust me, I’ll be warm.
So that’s how I wore boxer shorts and a shirt to two different castles in one day. Spontaneous, but a 50/50 thing. On one hand, I was like, “Hmm, I’ve never worn something like this,” but on the other hand, I thought, “Try something new for your birthday. Don’t overthink it.” My partner looked at me and said, “Are you sure?” I said, “Not really, but I don’t want to think about what to wear right now.” So I chose my boxer shorts and his shirt.

I know the women’s fashion industry can be unnecessarily wild sometimes, but it wasn’t until I was writing this post that I saw people like Rihanna and Bella Hadid—and some magazines—talking about boxers as a fashion statement. Immediately I was like, “No. Let’s just leave it for home strolls—casual, not a formal outfit. It’s a no.”
And immediately I saw stores selling one pair of boxer shorts for £44. One boxer short? No way. I mean, men, do your boxer shorts cost that much? Because I got three pairs from Primark for £10. I mean, it’s just boxer shorts. Or are ladies trying to increase the price of boxers? No way. Well, there are still places not accepting this madness, so you can still get boxers at the usual prices.
Did I mention this boxer short outfit is comfy since the materials are both light? I give it a 10 for the comfy feel.
These photos were taken just outside Newark Castle. And wait—did I mention I got everything on my birthday list except the record player? My partner asked me if I really wanted it at the moment, and I was like, “Okay, just wait a little.”

So that’s all for today. Let me know what you think about my outfit. And to anyone reading this—don’t fall for those Vogue write-ups. These are just normal boxer shorts—nothing special. Just me wearing boxer shorts out, which my dad would not approve of.
Ps: My mom got me the black skimpy singlet. She always gets them for me when I go home and I always feel like I will not use them because I end up needing them. I believe they are called camisoles, but these are not the typical ones; this particular one provides a firmer body appearance.
Wishing you a happy weekend. I can’t wait to share my visit to Edinburgh Castle with you.
I like it... it's perfect for a visit...and my dad wouldn't approve it either...
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy the weekend...
All the best

DeleteYou are a cutie pie for sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Chatty.
DeleteI've never worn a pair of boxer shorts in my life, but then again I would look absolutely awful in them and would definitely not be leaving the house let alone visiting castles wearing them.
ReplyDeleteYou, on the other hand, look absolutely stunning in everything you wear! xxx
Thank you for the compliment. Everything is about knowing what works for us. You would look good in anything you choose to wear.
DeleteI'm so glad you were able to spend some time in nature like you wanted! Edinburgh sounds like a really amazing castle. And those Wellington boots are fantastic! Functional, but they look super stylish as well. This is such a gorgeous outfit <3
ReplyDeleteSpending time in nature makes me happy and yes, we actually went to Edinburgh Castle yesterday. I already shared my posts yesterday being Sunday, and those boots are actually my favorite at the moment thank you so much for your comments have a nice day.

ReplyDeleteThey're actually my favorite boots at the moment, so I'm really rocking them. Thank you.
DeleteYou look good, but there is no way I would wear boxers out in public, hell I wouldn't wear them at all
ReplyDeleteI can understand why you wouldn't wear boxers in public well it was my birthday and I was like well I have three new sets of boxers; why not just wear one with an oversized shirt and here we are. Thank you commenting have a nice day.
DeleteIt seems you are having the time of your life. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of the weekend.
I would say I'm having a good time. God has been faithful and this is all about planning life and making sure you balance work and your life in general so going out makes me happy, but working doesn't make me happy no one wants to work but we have to work as adults so nature is one place I go to relax my head. Thank you.
DeleteGreat post! Comfort over crazy prices any day!

DeleteHappy birthday! The boxers look so comfy, especially on a day of sightseeing and hiking up stone paths. I’m not seeing the trend here yet. LOL on your partner and the Melody Jacob’s photo sessions.
ReplyDeleteBoxers are comfy, that is for sure. The trend is not picking up, and I hope it does not even fly.
Delete...Wellies aren't just green anymore?
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess right now they've got wellies in different designs, but this is a rainboot.
DeleteOnly you could make boxer shorts fashionable and attractive. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for flattering me.
DeleteI really think your outfit is cool. I really like the combination of rain boots and boxer shorts.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sabine.
DeleteThe outfit is perfect for hot days, even if I am not sure about the fantastique boots, because I wear only short variants. I love the beautiful landscapes from your photos. You are very creative with your shots!
ReplyDeleteHave a fine and inspired July!❤️😘
Thank you, Suzana.
DeleteMit den Stiefeln sieht das richtig klasse aus. Steht dir sehr gut. LG Romy
ReplyDeleteThank you, Romy. My fav boots at the moment.
DeleteIf you hadn't told us they were boxer shorts, I wouldn't have guessed. They just look like lightweight, comfy shorts.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kate.
DeleteI haven't worn shorts in years. I can never find a pair that fit the way I want them to. You look great.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary.
DeleteOlá, querida amiga Melody!
ReplyDeleteUm lugar que apetece andar à vontade, com roupas leves e aproveitar a bela natureza.
Tenha uma nova semana abençoada!
Beijinhos fraternos
Thank you, Roselia.
DeleteKurcze Dziewczyno, Ty to nawet w boxerkach wyglądasz super. Idealny strój na taką wycieczkę. Bardzo mi się podoba Edynburg. Moja przyjaciółka fotograf często tam jeździ i robi tamtejszym ludziom sesje zdjęciowe. Uwielbiam zwiedzać zamki zwłaszcza ruiny, które pięknie się wtapiają w tło. U nas w Pieninach jest piękne jezioro nad którym stoją dwa zamki, jeden polski a.drugi węgierski. Pozdrawiam serdecznie Melody.
ReplyDeleteYour friend must have a really good time always taking beautiful photos. I hope you get to visit the castles and ruins around you because I am exploring and I love it.
DeleteI wore boxer shorts the last couple weeks of my pregnancy - it was in August and very hot: boxers were soft, lightweight and was perfect. I didn’t wear them out if the house.
ReplyDeleteYou’re young, attractive and just about everything looks good on you. You can do these things when you’re all that. At 71, I’d look like a nut case and they would call the men in the white truck to take me away.
Do it while you’re young and still look good if you want.
What a great story about wearing boxer shorts during your pregnancy, sounds like they were the perfect solution for staying comfortable in the August heat. Thank you for the kind words. It's definitely fun to experiment with fashion. You're right, comfort is key, and it's all about what makes you feel good.
DeleteThanks for visiting my blog, Melody!
ReplyDeleteShorts aren't really my vibe but you look great in yours! x
Thank you, Vix.
DeletePermíteme decirte que te veo guapa con ese bóxer, el cual creo es mas grande que los míos. Por el tamaño me parece mas a un pantalón para hacer deporte que ropa interior.
ReplyDeleteSaludos.
Oh, really? Thank you, Thomas.
DeleteI love shorts ;) I wear them every year. It's the best solution for hot days. But now, to work i need to buy something more appropriate ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day 🤗
Angelika
I like that blue outfit, and you look lovely as ever in it. The boots really make the outfit. The boxer shorts are comfy, especially in the summertime. I've worn a few of them in my time. Blue is such a pretty color in fashion. And it's a calming color as well.
