Loch Lomond Destress: Refreshing Dip in River Leven

On Friday, my partner and I were so stressed out that we almost broke down. But being the positive and outgoing people we are, we handled life the best way we knew how. We decided to take a deep breath, and on Sunday, we made plans to destress at Loch Lomond.

If you're a regular reader of the Melody Jacob blog, you already know how excited we were when we first visited Loch Lomond. So we decided to go back to a place that brought us so much happiness. And yes, we packed a school bag—funny, I know. We also packed food, drinks, and water and set off on the 40-minute drive to Loch Lomond.

I enjoyed the drive, as always. My partner is a careful driver—never rushing, always obeying traffic laws. For me, enjoying the view with music playing as we drive together is always a delight. Sometimes I sing along, and sometimes I fall asleep, especially on the way back.

We met some warm and friendly people at the entrance of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. We also signed up for the monthly subscription, so now every time we visit Loch Lomond—or any location under the same management—we get free parking. And since we often visit different places each month, sometimes even two in a day, the £5 subscription fee is a great deal for us.

When we reached the beach area, we walked to another side where there were some people around. I wanted to take some photos and dip in the water, but the sun kept playing with us—it would disappear, then shine again, and we’d see it glowing from afar. Dipping in the water started to seem like not the best idea, but we were prepared. We brought towels, coconut oil, antiperspirant—everything we needed to feel comfortable and enjoy our time.

I don't know the brand of my pink polka dot swimsuit, but my mom got it for me. I bought this hat on our way to Loch Lomond on Sunday; we stopped by Springburn shopping center, and I saw it on a mannequin inside the Marie Curie charity store. They had four of them, so I got one.

I fell asleep on the way, and later that night, I slept so well. It was truly a refreshing experience.

You should try a cold dip sometime. Or wait—have you tried it before?

  3. Demo admit that I'm lucky I live in a place loved by tourists and with nice places to dive in. The water is cold (it reaches a maximum of 15 degrees in summer). Beautiful photos and I think it was the right time to relax and recharge

    1. Thank you so much, Giannis. We intentionally make this part of our lives. This is one of the things that keeps us going, and of course, God is always guiding us toward a balanced life, which is much needed given the current state of the world.

  7. Melody, you let me write on a different topic - we have a new Pope :)
I hope that he will be a good Pope. I was hoping that the new Pope would be from Africa or Asia.

    1. Honestly beautiful I think the focus should be on picking the pope that is ordained by God and not by the choice of man or where they come from. In such decisions, I will say we should consult with God, as what we don't see, God sees.

  8. Hay lugares que te enamoran y a vosotros fue ese lago. Por lo que nos cuentas el día estaba como para no darse un baño.
Ese bañador me recuerda a los que se ven en fotos de hace unos cuantos años y con ese sombrero me parece un aire retro.

    Saludos.

  9. When I went to Scotland I didn't visit that peaceful place. If I were to go to Scotland once again I would visit Loch Lomond, which is located close to Glasgow.

    1. Yes, you spotted that. I felt sad, but I always maintain a positive outlook on how I handle situations; I never allow a situation to consume me because I believe it is all part of a process that will eventually pass, and God will be praised. Thank you so much.

    1. It makes sense for them to charge for parking. They are really doing a good job keeping the place tidy and clean, plus planting trees and walking around to monitor the area. Overall, I’d say it’s worth the parking fee—more than any other we’ve paid, if I may say so.

“Lavish Your Best On The Lord” Sunday, May 18, 2025

Key Verse “Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her” (Mark 14:9). Text —Mark 14:3-9 Message To lavish your best on the Lord, start by giving Him your whole heart. Then use your unique gifts and abilities to serve Him. This could include anything from singing in the choir to teaching at Sunday school. Even if it’s hard or uncomfortable, give your best to the Lord. Take inspiration from the woman in our today’s Bible text who poured out her costly oil. Like David, she decided to offer to the Lord that which cost her something (2 Samuel 24:24). The hymn writer Frances Havergal wrote, “Take my life, and let it be Consecrated Lord to thee.” Christ is our perfect example of giving; He gave His life for us, and we have no reason to withhold our best from Him. So, let us give our time, talents and treasures, even in the most difficult times, because the difficult times are the best times to give. Never mind the side-talks of those that see it as a waste but make sure you give yourself first before other things. When you give your best, you’re laying up treasures in heaven. Quote Christ is our perfect example of giving Challenge Start by giving your life to Christ. Prayer for today Lord, please give me the grace to give my best to you.
