Happy Women’s Day: Dear Woman, This Is for You

Above the flowers, chocolates, and all the beautiful messages that will be sent to women around the world, if there is anything I would tell a woman today, it is this: Plan like you are alone, walk like you are alone, be conscious of yourself, and never let anyone play on your emotions. Be slow to speak, act in silence, and pray for God’s covering.

As we all celebrate Women's Day in our various countries and ways, I pray that the blessings that come with Women's Day be released unto every woman. May God guide you, keep you, protect you, and see you through.

For everyone going through a hard time in any area of life, remember to put yourself first. It’s never a perfect world, and there is no such thing as a perfect home—do what you can and allow others to contribute. Be strong and courageous.

This Women's Day is a calm and refreshing one. Today, I am going to feed the ducks with bread at Springburn Park. I always enjoy the morning sunshine—the way it hits my skin is a beautiful feeling. So, I’m spending my Women's Day feeding ducks, taking a simple walk around the park, and letting the sun soak into my skin.

Updated:

While I had already published my post, my partner mentioned yesterday that we were going to the park to feed the birds and ducks—one of my favorite activities. But instead of our usual spot, he decided to take me to a new park I hadn’t been to before. So, plans changed, and we ended up somewhere different!

Before heading there, we stopped by the mall to grab some Greggs—because hey, it’s Women’s Day, and a little treat never hurt! Not the healthiest choice, but totally worth it. I had a ham and cheese baguette with orange juice, while he went for potato wedges with sweet sauce.

Now, my partner didn’t exactly seem super hyped about Women’s Day, which I wasn’t thrilled about—but honestly, I didn’t care hahaha! Because today was all about me! I had a great time just sitting in the park, watching people walk by, and soaking in the moment.

We also read some comments from my last blog post together and ended up rating Victoria Park in Glasgow—not the best park we’ve visited. My partner asked if I’d like to go to Springburn Park instead since we weren’t really feeling the vibe. Turns out, he picked Victoria Park because he drove past it a few times, and it looked nice from afar. And to be fair, I could see what he meant—when you’re standing far away, the park looks lovely, but up close? Not so much. The part I did like, though, was the garden area—beautifully trimmed, and the view from the hilly section was calm and scenic.

Eventually, we decided to drive to Springburn Park to actually feed the birds—and this time, we had a much better experience. Victoria Park didn’t have many birds, and the ducks were few, but Springburn Park? Packed with birds! The only thing was… they weren’t that hungry. Since it was a holiday and lots of people were around, the birds had already been well-fed. We saw kids tossing out food, and the ducks barely rushed for it. Normally, they scramble for every crumb, but today? Some ate, but many just ignored the food altogether. We even saw pieces of bread floating on the water, untouched! By tomorrow, I bet they’ll be wondering why the feast is over—but they’ll never know the answer, hahaha!

We also took time to explore other parts of the park that we hadn’t walked through before. I’ll be sharing a separate post about Victoria Park soon—stay tuned!

How are you spending your Women's Day?

Happy Women's Day!

  3. Happy Women's Day to you! I like your idea of going to feed the ducks -- that sounds like a wonderful way for some self-nourishment and I suspect the ducks will love it too! I'm just laying low today, but dinner with a friend tonight. All good.

  4. Nice option for a holiday, Melody - feeding ducks. I adore these birds!. I guess, you haven't heard about my collection, here's for a pause :) https://irina-alicelovers.blogspot.com/2018/11/blog-post_4.html
My holiday was great! We went to congratulate my teacher who is 88 years old, festive dinner with friends, tea with other friends, walk at sunset... I liked your musing on our women's day. It is a blessing to have a loving man by your side, but you can't count on this blessing. We'd better be self-sufficient, I guess.

  10. Hi Melody,
I speaking of Women's Day, I thank you for your words on the blog!!!
It's very sad that in a large part in the world women are discriminated against and suffer. Women are humiliated, they have no rights, they are deprived of their lives :( It's terrible!
Melody, I'm glad that you had a nice day today. I enjoyed the sun and the hot day - it was 40 degrees warm on my thermometer at noon in the sun! I love it! I'm glad that my perfume collection has grown today too.

  18. What a thoughtful post! I think as women we sometimes forget ourselves. We need to put ourselves (with God's help of course) first in order to be able to take care of others.
I'm happy to hear you celebrated 8th of March in a way you enjoyed with your significant other.
I had a nice day too. I met an ex colleague of mine and had a long talk with her.
I send a received a lot of uplifting messages.

  32. Years ago indeed you were given a flower in the city on this day.
Yesterday I only saw a group of women protesting against rights not being fulfilled.
    Sad they are right, mostly.
At my soon former company I got the same salary as a male engineer and with that more than my hubby.
But yes. Too many women are treated still "lower" just for being female. In Germany. In 2025...
    Nice you had a you-day :-)

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It’s truly disheartening that, even in 2025, so many women around the world still face inequality and are treated as lesser simply because of their gender. The fact that a group of women were protesting for their rights shows how much work is still needed to ensure equality for all.
It's wonderful to hear that you had the same salary as your male colleagues—that’s progress! But yes, as you mentioned, there’s still much more to be done. Hopefully, one day, we’ll see a world where all women are treated with equal respect and opportunity.I’m glad you enjoyed your “you-day,” though—it’s important to take time for yourself and celebrate who you are!
