The Seasonal Mystery Illness is disturbing people in the UK.

The first time I noticed that I was coughing and had a blocked nose was after I visited Glasgow Winter Market. I do not like cold and crowded places, but I did not want to let down an invitation, so I went, and now I am sick with the flu and coughs that worsen when I lay down to sleep.

Many people in the UK are suffering from a terrible illness during this holiday season. After their work Christmas parties, some people have said they felt completely exhausted.

Along with other bugs, a diverse range of cold and flu viruses, as well as COVID variants, are currently in circulation. While it is not unusual for a multitude of viruses to be prevalent during this season, a significant proportion of individuals have reported experiencing severe illness.

The question is, what exactly is the root cause of this widespread illness?

A variety of distinct viruses and other respiratory infections are striking us around the same time as what many may believe to be a single winter cold that is wreaking havoc on a sizable section of the populace. Our bodies might not be prepared for these bugs after months of little to no social interaction.

Thus, if you get a cold or the flu this winter, you might feel a little worse than you would have before 2020. However, keep in mind that it can be difficult to diagnose yourself without testing because cold air can impair our noses' ability to fight off viruses.

Nobody enjoys being sick, especially right before Christmas, but some people might not want to miss out on enjoyable holiday activities. To stay healthy, wash your hands frequently, open windows to let fresh air into rooms, and discard used tissues.

Staying indoors until you feel better or wearing a mask if you must go outside is the best way to stop spreading the illness to others if you are already sick.

  1. You are right. Unfortunately, some people don't wear masks and cough all over the place... and spread the disease... It' so selfish and showing no epathy or care for others...

  6. It is so frustrating to be sick and especially during the holidays. Here in the US, we are dealing with a tripledemic that includes the flu, RSV, and covid. Like you, I don't like being in crowds. You make great suggestions here, Melody!

“Lavish Your Best On The Lord” Sunday, May 18, 2025

Key Verse “Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her” (Mark 14:9). Text —Mark 14:3-9 Message To lavish your best on the Lord, start by giving Him your whole heart. Then use your unique gifts and abilities to serve Him. This could include anything from singing in the choir to teaching at Sunday school. Even if it’s hard or uncomfortable, give your best to the Lord. Take inspiration from the woman in our today’s Bible text who poured out her costly oil. Like David, she decided to offer to the Lord that which cost her something (2 Samuel 24:24). The hymn writer Frances Havergal wrote, “Take my life, and let it be Consecrated Lord to thee.” Christ is our perfect example of giving; He gave His life for us, and we have no reason to withhold our best from Him. So, let us give our time, talents and treasures, even in the most difficult times, because the difficult times are the best times to give. Never mind the side-talks of those that see it as a waste but make sure you give yourself first before other things. When you give your best, you’re laying up treasures in heaven. Quote Christ is our perfect example of giving Challenge Start by giving your life to Christ. Prayer for today Lord, please give me the grace to give my best to you.
