3 Mother’s Day Dinner Recipes To Try

3 Mother’s Day Dinner Recipes

Mother's Day is just around the corner, and it's good to shower your mom with love. You can surprise her with a home-cooked meal. There are different recipes online, depending on what your mom prefers. As early as today, months before Mother's Day, perhaps you casually ask her what's her favorite food. However, don't give anything else away as it’ll be a surprise, after all.

Aside from your home-cooked meal, it’d be nice if you could send Mother's Day flowers. You can give other gifts like chocolates, or you can treat her to an all-expense paid shopping spree or a weekend in the spa. You know your mom better than anyone else. Otherwise, you can always ask if you don't want to give her. But Mother's Day shouldn't be the only day that you make your mom feel especially; it should be all day of the year.

It doesn't have to be complicated. It can be as simple as helping with household chores or spending time with her if you don't live together anymore. No matter what's going on with your life, you should find time to at least talk to your mom or visit her at the weekends. It's the little things that truly matter. You can also show your mom a gesture.

Here are a few dinner recipes you can cook for your mom:

1. Start With An Appetizer

Start with an appetizer to get your mom ready for the main course. An ideal appetizer should be light and should have the flavors of the main dish, but it can also contrast the main course. If you're serving meat, you can have soup as an appetizer. The serving should be enough to get started. Remember, this is only the first course.

  • Marinated Mozzarella. This is a light Italian appetizer. You can use other kinds of cheese if you want.

Ingredients:

  • Olive oil

  • Chopped sun-dried tomatoes

  • Minced fresh parsley

  • Minced chives

  • Crushed red pepper flakes

  • Dried basil

  • Garlic powder

  • Cubed part-skim mozzarella cheese

Combine all the ingredients except for the mozzarella cheese. After mixing, add the cheese and coat it well. Cover it with saran wrap and put it in the refrigerator for at least thirty minutes.

  • Korean Fried Zucchini. It’s one of the most famous Korean appetizers.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-large zucchini

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Slice the zucchini and add salt to taste. Prepare the batter. Get a bowl and beat the egg, and add salt. Get the flour and put it in a separate container. Start heating the pan and set fire to medium heat. Add the vegetable oil. Coat the zucchini with flour, dip it into the egg, and put it in the pan. Do this for all the zucchini slices. Fry it for three to four minutes on each side until it's golden brown.

2. Serve The Main Course

This will be the star or highlight of the Mother's Day dinner. Show off your cooking skills. It can be a healthy meal if your mom is health-conscious or it can be pork, chicken, beef, seafood, or pasta. There’s a wide selection of main dishes you can choose from. It helps if you know what your mom prefers to eat so you can recreate it or make it your own.

  • Seafood Pasta With Clams And Shrimp. It’s a simple and easy Spanish main dish.

Ingredients:

  • Spaghetti

  • Clams

  • Shrimps

  • Cayenne pepper

  • 2 garlic cloves

  • Tomato sauce

  • Olive oil

  • Salt

Get a pot and cook the pasta and add a dash of salt. Devein the shrimps, cut them into small pieces, and add salt to taste. Chop the cloves of garlic. Heat the frying pan and add olive oil, garlic, and cayenne pepper. Sauté the garlic until golden brown. Add the shrimps to the pan; when it's cooked, add the clams. Pour the tomato sauce. Drain the pasta and add to the frying pan. Mix and give it at least 5 minutes, and then start plating.

  • Teriyaki Rib-Eye Steak. This is a Japanese main dish using ribeye steak. The teriyaki sauce is made from scratch.

Ingredients:

  • Soy sauce

  • White sugar

  • Water

  • Honey

  • Vinegar

  • Worcestershire sauce

  • Onion powder

  • Olive oil

  • Garlic powder

  • Ground ginger

  • Beef rib-eye steaks

In a bowl, mix all the ingredients except the rib-eye steak. After that, pierce the steak with a toothpick or a fork. Add the steak to the bowl and marinate for at least two hours. Cook the steak either in a wok or hot skillet on medium heat. It should cook within seven minutes and then serve.

3. Save The Best For Last: The Dessert

After all, that cooking, take it easy and do something simple. Make a charcuterie board to end the full course meal. Customize the board and make it your own. You just need either a chopping board or a serving tray to put the ingredients. It can be a mix of berries, thinly sliced meat like salami or ham, nuts, jams, crackers, and cheese. Or it can be different kinds of chocolates, cookies, and biscuits. It’s best paired with red wine, but white wine will do just fine too.

Conclusion

Make your mama proud and cook a full course meal for her on Mother's Day. Show off your cooking skills by checking out the recipes above, as well as giving her gifts like chocolates and flowers. Simply be there for her, and let her know how much she means to you. Shower her with hugs and kisses. Treat her right, all day of the year.

  1. The tradition in the US is to take Mom to the fanciest restaurant you can afford. I still have a wonderful image of my mother all dolled up in a pretty blue dress wearing the coursage Dad brought her, getting ready for the trip to her favorite restaurant for lobster Cantonese. It is wonderful to see all the families out together on Mother's Day!
