For Prime Day, Amazon is slashing the price of its new Fire HD 10 tablet to just $80.

Alexa and Prime fans who don't mind missing out on a few apps will love Amazon's Fire tablet lineup. With Prime Day approaching, the shop is offering Prime members a 40% discount on its largest slates for adults and children. The Amazon Fire HD 10 has been reduced to $80 from $150, while the Fire HD 10 Kids has been reduced to $120 from $200.

Both include a 10.1-inch full HD display, a 2 GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of extendable storage. It's worth noting, though, that the price is just for the Fire HD 10 with "lock screen advertisements." That means you'll see targeted adverts in the tablet's power-saving screensaver and at the bottom of the main screen. Once you've acquired the service, you'll have to pay a one-time fee to get rid of the sponsored communications for good.

HD 10 at Amazon - $80 Buy Fire HD Kids at Amazon - $12The Fire HD 10 is a great tablet for browsing the web, checking social media, watching streaming apps, and making Zoom calls. The major drawback is the lack of Google apps, as well as a general shortage of apps compared to the Play Store or Apple App Store.

However, Amazon covers the essentials: Netflix, Disney+, Roblox for kids, Zoom, Microsoft, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok are all available. Plus, there's Amazon's app suite, which includes Prime Video, Amazon Music, and Kindle.

Alexa may also be summoned to make phone calls, check the news and weather, locate things to watch, and play music. In fact, the Fire HD 10 has a "Show Mode" that effectively transforms it into a smart display with Alexa at the centre.

The Kids model, of course, is free of advertisements, filters out mature content (with additional parental controls such as screen time presets), and includes a bright protective case.
