Collections Comestics Duo Blush Cream & Powder sets Review

Melody Jacob wearing the Duo Blush Cream & Powder set by collection cosmetics

For the longest time, I was convinced that blush and I just weren't meant to be. I tried so many different types and shades, but nothing seemed to work. I even found a cream blush I liked, but it was a whole ordeal to apply without it clashing with my foundation. I just didn't have the patience for it, so I gave up and stuck to what I knew.

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you know my makeup routine is pretty simple. I'm a MAC Powder Foundation girl—NW45, to be exact. I've got an Oriflame liquid foundation, but I don't use it often. My go-to look is just my MAC powder, some brow pencil, and mascara. Lipsticks are tricky for me, so I usually just go for a light stain and some gloss. I'm not into heavy makeup that feels caked on. I'm confident in my own skin, and I don't feel the need to cover anything up. My makeup is meant to enhance, not conceal.

But then, something changed. I got my hands on some blushes from Collections Cosmetics UK. They also sent me some of their High Color Glosses, but the colors weren't for me. I tried everything, but they just didn't suit my skin tone. I'll find a way to make them work eventually, but the blushes? Oh, my gosh. They're exactly what I've been looking for.

I've been wearing these blushes for weeks now and can honestly say they're a game-changer. They give me that soft, sweet, and subtle glow that I love. I've even shared tons of outfit photos wearing them, and they look just as good at the end of the day as they do when I first put them on. The way they make my skin look is just perfection. They melt right into my skin and don't look tacky at all—just a seamless, natural flush.

These blushes are worth every penny (4.99), and the hype is real. You know I'm always honest with you; the glosses didn't work for me, but the blushes are pure magic. They're so pigmented but not greasy, and they blend like a dream. If you're into a soft glow like I am, all you need is your powder, mascara, and a little bit of this blush, and you're good to go.

I haven't even tried the cream blush yet because I'm so satisfied with the powder. Collections Cosmetics sent me the Duo Blush Cream & Powder set, and I'd recommend buying both sets. They don't have a strong scent, and the quality is incredible. They definitely put a lot of thought into this product. My sister saw me on a video call the day we visited Loch Leven nature reserve and said the blush was perfect for me. She told me the soft glow really suits me, and I was so happy. Ps: I also apply the blush as eyeshadow.

I made a new hair do you like it?

It's been a great Sunday so far. I even went to church with my new favorite blush on. Now I want to know—are you a soft glow person or a strong glow person? And what's your favorite blush to use? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Sunday.

  1. Hello! I don't use compact powder, I don't like the look of it on mature skin. But your skin looks fantastic! I'm glad you finally found the perfect compact powder for your skin, it's a shame you didn't like the colour of the glosses! But I like the colours! Have a lovely Sunday!

    1. Hi Marisa, I tried the glosses but they didn't work for me, but the blushes are 10/10.

  3. So great you found a blush you like.
I don't own a blush, but sometimes I rub on a little bit of lipstick on my cheeks.
    You look so beautiful!
    Both hair styles are divine.

  4. Hi Melody :)
Your hairstyle is fantastic! I really like it.
Let me divide my comment into two parts.
The first part - cosmetics and makeup. My basic everyday cosmetics are (aside from the stalls, of course!) lipstick or lip gloss and mascara. This is, of course, only if I'm going out or there's an important event, because otherwise, I like a natural look.
The second part of my comment is about my Sunday. Unfortunately, it's terrible - cold, windy, rainy, and no sun! I spent today at home making quince juice with my mom. In the afternoon, my dad and I went to church. During the sermon, I sat spellbound! A wonderful sermon from a priest who served as a missionary in Belarus, among other places.
Melody, my friend, I wish you a good new week.

    1. I admire your approach to cosmetics. As for your Sunday, even though the weather was gloomy, it sounds like you spent it in a meaningful way. Making quince juice with your mom must have been a warm and comforting moment, and then ending the day with such a moving sermon alongside your dad adds a spiritual richness that bad weather cannot take away.

  6. Never use blush, I've already got rosy cheeks, never use eyebrow pencil, use liquid foundation.

  7. Your makeup is beautiful. Also your hair. I only use a light foundation for the face. Unfortunately, powder settles in the wrinkles. Blush is a must.

    1. Thank you for your kind words. In many ways, choosing makeup is similar for everyone, regardless of skin tone. It's about finding shades that complement your natural complexion and make you feel confident. For darker skin, just as for lighter skin, soft and natural shades can enhance features beautifully, and the same principles of application apply. It’s really about celebrating the natural beauty you already have.

  9. I'm not into heavy makeup either, but would be lost without blush. It's always nice to learn about new ones on the block and at 4,99 these won't break the bank. I'll be on the lookout! xxx

    1. I agree with you about the price.. The price is actually a good one. It's actually a good buy. And yes, I think blush actually gives that soft glow. For me, I like it, but some people don't like it. And I'm glad you also like it.

  11. Al igual que tu pienso que el maquillaje no debe ser recargado. No se si será porque las mujeres de la familia siempre las vi sin maquillaje o como mucho el día de su boda.

    Saludos.

    1. Makeup is a personal choice. Some people prefer heavy makeup, while others prefer a more natural look. I personally prefer a light makeup look because I find heavy makeup to be uncomfortable. I've found that a little bit of blush, powder, mascara, and lip gloss is all I need to feel confident and put-together. I'm glad I've been able to figure out what works for me!

  12. The blush colours are so beautiful! I'm glad you were able to find something that checked all the boxes. It's wonderful that the blushes are pigmented and blend well. A soft glow seems like the perfect addition to a makeup look!
