Biodun Fatoyinbo accused by Busola Dakolo is a warning to every leader to recheck and restructure.

Sometimes, I have a lot on my mind to write about but can hardly figure out how to put them down in words. I stare at my laptop, changing topics, starting paragraphs that I never finish. This morning I woke up a bit worried about my face and how poor my facial care has been. I opened my laptop hoping to continue writing one of the previous articles which I already started but little or no idea was forthcoming. Tho mornings are pretty refreshing for me but I found myself writing words that didn't blend together.  I have been stressed and needed some rest but at the same time, I also needed to update my website.

Thinking about one of the most controversial issues in Nigeria at the moment, about the founder and leader of the Commonwealth Of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo who have been accused of sexual assault by Busola Dakolo, is a warning to every leader to recheck and restructure. There are things in which Ministers and Pastors both male and female should always consider and carefully follow these rules to avoid situations that can lead them into temptation or expose them to unpleasant situations.

All over the world, this act happens every day. A serious allegation and should be looked into carefully. When a pastor is accused of such, it affects him and his ministry as a whole. It takes the grace of God for the church to stand. There are wicked people in the world hiding under the umbrella of religion and doing evil, we should not also forget that there are also people in the world looking for great people who uphold religion to bring them down. Nobody is perfect which brings us to the reason why Pastors, Ministers, Leaders, or anyone holding a delicate office in the Christiandom should follow these rules and put things in place right now if they haven't done so.

Do not have a secretary of the opposite GenderMan and Woman of God, even the Bible says in the book of Romans 13:14, “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.” Making provision for the flesh is the opposite of fleeing temptation. We make provision for our flesh when we accommodate things that lead to sin, by so doing we are actually making preparations for sinning. Employing a female secretary as a man is making provision for sin (Vice versa). Having a male travel assistant as a woman of God is making provision for sin. Do not open doors for tempting situations and expect the devil not to use it against you or make you fall into temptation. Do not visit Church members alone, whether it is a family or a single brother or sister. When you are going for a visit inform a worker in the Church to go with you.  Be careful because the devil is working tirelessly to bring down the Church and usher more people into hell.

Tithing has been one of the most trending issues patterning giving in the Church and people have different ideas about tithing but the answer is in the Bible. As a Minister of God, it is advisable that you are not in charge of Church funds. Always remember that a clean heart and hand are very important not only before God but also before man. Money has power and can make one lose focus if we don't watch it. There are trusted members in the church that can follow up with the Church fund organization. As a Pastor or a Minister of God, money can be tempting and can also bring conflicts in your Ministry or Church. This is very delicate as even the Bible made us know in the book 1 Timothy 6:10 King James Version (KJV), For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Counselling hours. I am very sure a lot of people have heard stories of counselling sessions going wrong. Ministers and Pastors should have security cameras in their offices, one trusted Church leader should always be inside the counselling room or Pastors office during counselling sessions.  Stop every form of counselling that falls during late hours.

Prayer and counselling pattern. It is very clear that different people have different ministries in Christendom and we pray to the same God but in different ways. As a Pastor please be careful where you lay your hands on. If you are a male Pastor and issues that focus on sensitive parts of the female body are brought to you, it is wise to speak the word instead of laying hands (Vice versa with female leaders). A clear example of faith manifested in the Bible can be found in the book of Matthew 14: 22-33, which shows that our words are powerful and backed up by God. God can never be put to shame. Believe in his word and do his will and he will confirm his word. Miracles are done by God not man. Don't send the wrong information while trying to do the right thing. This can be seen as sexual harassment by the lady. He is Jehovah Rapha (The Lord your healer). The name of Jesus is above anything you can name and it means it has authority over all situations. 2 Corinthians 5:7 New King James Version (NKJV) For we walk by faith, not by sight.

The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. Mattew 8:8.

Matthew 11:28-29 NLT says, Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Jeremiah 30:17 King James Version (KJV)
17 For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.

This might sound off but it is important that Pastors and Ministers stop receiving individual gifts openly. Many Pastors and leaders are being used by God and through the direction of God, they are blessed by humans with gifts. God will not throw down money for a full-time Minister of God, rather he will bless the works of your hands and provide for you through men.
This can be misunderstood by members of the Church or people watching from afar. Newsrooms are looking for pieces of negative information to put out there in the media, the devil is turning the minds of believers through man by giving them ideas that every/some properties owned by Ministers of God were gotten from Church funds. Be careful who you accept gifts from, where you accept gifts and what type of gifts you accept. Be sure to always inform other Church leaders about the gifts you receive and keep a record of them. If possible let the gifts go through proper scrutinization.

Jesus used what was available to feed the multitude. God will always provide for you, do not be too forward in a negative form. A clear example can be seen in the book of Matthew 14:13-21 King James Version (KJV)
16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. 17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. 18 He said, Bring them hither to me. 19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples and the disciples to the multitude. 20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. 21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

Pride and immorality of all forms are what the devil uses to target Ministers and Church leaders. Don't feel too big to be corrected. Most times if the devil can not get you through sinning against your body as a Minister of God he begins to bring things that make you feel higher than everyone in your congregation. The devil even makes your members award some kind of respect that makes you feel so high. Some members award this respect in the wrong way, some start worshipping their Pastors and leaders unknowingly. Sometimes this is not even their intention but it is often seen in that light. Do not be too high because even the highest of all which is God still communicates with his children. Pride goes before a fall remember.

Proverbs 27:2 (KJV) Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Proverbs 29:23 (KJV) A man's pride shall bring him low: but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Romans 12:3 (NKJV) For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt with each one a measure of faith.

Romans 12:16 (KJV) Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Daniel 5:20 (KJV) But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

What you wear matter. The apparel of a priest is always well covered, decent and well put together. This is not only a uniform of identification but also a robe of honor which covers your body in the right way. Women especially should check what they wear. A committee should supervise what a Pastor wears and question it if it is not appropriate. Your dressing is part of your ministry, it speaks, as you stand in the altar of God everything about you speaks to the people of God. Watch what you wear.

The book of  Matthew 5:7-9 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”. This clearly shows that our dressing can make others stumble into sin. Sinning outwardly is just as bad as sinning inwardly.

1Timothy 2:9-10 “Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.”

1 Peter 3:3 “Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewellery, or the clothing you wear.”

Do everything in moderation. God is the giver of all things. No one is asking you to act poor or not show the blessings of God upon your life as a Minister of God. Let the blessings of God in your life not be used to glorify yourself or the devil. Let it not serve as a barrier of communication between you and the children of God you lead. Let your wealth be a blessing to your sheep.

Philippians 4:4-8 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

There are different things that can bring a ministry to a fast end, men and women of God should be very careful not to influence or break edges that can allow these ungodly acts to penetrate their ministry. Always remember that it is a calling from God and you owe it all to him.

Galatians 6:1 (GW) brothers and sisters, if a person gets trapped by wrongdoing, those of you who are spiritual should help that person turn away from doing wrong. Do it in a gentle way. At the same time watch yourself so that you also are not tempted.

When you sin against God, step down and report to the right authorities. If you keep sinning against God and covering up your evil deeds, maybe the victims or people involved are afraid or not willing to speak out. Just like it always happens, one day they will find the courage to speak out. One lie leads to another. It is better to face man's judgment than God's judgment.

  1. These seems like good guide rules for members of church. Sometimes it is hard to know whether allegations are true or not. Some people will make allegations for their own benefit and sometimes allegations are true. Somebody being a member of the church doesn't mean they are sinless. There are some wicked people hiding behind religion, that's certainly true. It is also true that there are people who hate religion and religious people so they are always trying to bring them down. A complicated situation.

  2. Wow! What a deep (and timely) subject, Melody! You're so very right - in this day and age especially. There are people in high positions who do bad things and there are people looking to bring down people in high positions, even if they've done nothing wrong. Abstaining from all appearance of evil is a good guideline for all of us, though. Your points are all great ways for those in the ministry and other positions of power to protect themselves.

    1. You totally get the point. They need to protect themselves and also abstain from all forms of evil. We all know they are humans and can make mistakes but they also need to put in more effort to be more careful.

  8. What a thoughtful post Melody. Good job on completing this and it's good to bring awareness to something very important. It's hard to know the truth with he said, she said but with God in our heart, we hope to always find the truth and justice.

  11. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. This is definitely a topic that is and has been highlighted worldwide. Which is scary and sad when you think about it. You have world leaders accused of rape and yet nothing happens to them. They are still in power. When it comes to the church the past few years it has exploded with a royal commission (in Australia) and the horrors they discovered about priests and the rape of alter boys an the perpetual covering up is sickening. Things need to change.

    1. This is so sick to here. I wonder why this people get away with such painful and brutal crimes like rape. Sometimes, I imagine how the heart of Jesus Christ bleeds seeing all the atrocities happening in the world. The church is supposed to be a place of refuge but rather we can't even trust our leaders anymore. This is very painful and sad.
