What Good Friday teaches us in today’s world

Happy Good Friday

Happy Good Friday to you all.

Last year I wrote about how to celebrate Good Friday, but this year I’ve been thinking more about what it actually teaches us, especially with how things are in the world right now.

For me, one thing that stands out is how we’re always in a rush for things to work out. We want answers straight away, we want things fixed quickly. But Good Friday doesn’t work like that. It reminds us that there are moments in life where things feel heavy, unclear, and even unfair—and we just have to sit in it.

It also makes me think about how we deal with people. It’s easy to cut people off or hold onto things, but this day reminds us that forgiveness isn’t weakness. It actually takes more strength than most things.

And honestly, it’s a reminder to slow down. Not everything needs to be loud or rushed. Sometimes it’s about being still, reflecting, and taking things as they come.

Good Friday isn’t just about looking back, it’s about how we carry ourselves now.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

  3. Hi Melody.
In my opinion, your words today reflect reality. We're rushing forward, we want everything now, we're incredibly impatient.
Melody, I'll tell you, I often think that people used to have more time for themselves and their loved ones... Today – we have technical innovations, phones, the internet, we can shop and the store will deliver it to us, and we have even less time than before...
Is life fair? In my opinion, life – especially for "normal" people, not politicians or celebrities – isn't easy. Unfortunately, a large percentage of humanity also makes life harder for itself. Of course, there are aspects of life we have no control over, but there are some things we can change, but we don't want to.

Melody, , on the occasion of Easter, I extend my best wishes for health, joy, happiness, family moments, and the blessing of the Risen Lord Jesus!!!
Warmest wishes to you and your loved ones!!!

  15. So many people can't forgive these days, I don't think they were shown or taught how to forgive, it appears it's one of the hardest things to do.
    Lovely post, Melody.

    1. It is hard to do, especially when you know deep down that this person will do it again or has done this before, which is why we have the option of forgiving and walking away to protect our space, but not out of malice, just by applying wisdom to also preserve our mental space.

  23. What a beautiful post. I also find Easter is a reminder of in the waiting time of our lives, it's okay to grieve but also hope can be right around the corner. It's also a reminder to me that no matter how tough life gets we have that promise of eternal life because of what Jesus did on the cross. Happy Easter!

  24. Wybaczenie to wielki dar, który wyzwala. Wybaczenie daje wytchnienie. Skoro Jezus wszystko nam wybaczył, Judaszowi zdradę, Piotrowi wyparcie to czemu my mamy nie wybaczyć bliźniemu? Wybaczenie w taki dzień ma szczególną moc. Życzę Ci dziś wielu błogosławieństw i dobroci ze strony ludzi których codziennie spotykasz na drodze. Pięknej Wielkanocy Melody.

  25. A good perspective. We have to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty in our lives. Good Friday teaches us patience. Forgiveness is harder than revenge or bearing grudges. Thanks for linking.
