Flight Knight BUBBLE Review: The Cabin Box You Can Carry Without Stress

Flight Knight BUBBLE carry-on cabin case in cream tan front view

I remember traveling to Belfast to meet my friend.

Belfast has somehow become one of those places where my friend and I meet from time to time. I think I just love the way Belfast is. It feels like a neutral ground for both of us because she is in Ireland and I’m in Scotland, so meeting in Belfast just feels easy. It is kind of in between for us, and most times, it is cheaper too.

The very first time I was going to meet her there, I checked the flight prices and I was actually very positive about everything. The ticket was affordable, the timing was okay for me, and I felt like, yes, the journey is going to be smooth.

Now, one thing about me is that I am a very light traveler. I always try my best to travel light. I don’t like packing too many things. I prefer to select items that can be worn in different ways, clothing that can be repeated, shoes that can complement multiple outfits, and items that I know I will actually use.

When I am flying, I prefer not to carry too much luggage, as I constantly try to avoid stress. If I am going somewhere for a short visit, one or two dresses will be okay for me, depending on what I’m going there to do.

My friend, on the other hand, is different. She travels a bit heavily. She likes to pack sneakers, jeans, shirts, hoodies, and all those “what if” items. What if it rains? What if we go out? What if I need this? What if I need that? And honestly, I get it.

So when she checked the luggage space the airline was giving for carry-on, it was something she struggled with a lot.

For me, I carried a handbag with everything I needed inside. Was it the best? No. Was it comfortable? Not really. It was a big handbag, and yes, it fitted under the seat, but carrying it around the airport and hanging it on my shoulder for hours was not comfortable at all.

Would I prefer a backpack? Maybe. But even a backpack can start hurting your shoulder and back after a long time. Back in my medical school days, I traveled through Istanbul, and let me tell you, that transit at the Turkish airport was a long one. My back was absolutely not happy with me after carrying that bag around for hours.

Now here is the thing. I had a small box at home that I could have used when I was traveling to Belfast, but it did not fit the airline cabin size. You know those affordable flights like easyJet, Ryanair, Loganair, Wizz Air, Jet2, TUI, British Airways, Aer Lingus, KLM, Lufthansa, Air France, and the rest of them? Some of them give you a small free hand-luggage allowance, but if you want extra luggage, you have to pay for it separately.

And sometimes that is where the “cheap flight” starts becoming not so cheap.

For a long time, I wanted to get a cabin box that would actually fit. I needed a box that I could roll around the airport, something light, something easy, and something that would not strain my shoulder and back before I even arrived at my destination.

The problem is that when you go online, you see different sizes. Small, medium, large, cabin-size, under-seat-size, and sometimes you find yourself wondering, “Okay, but will this one actually fit?”

Because not everyone understands measurements. Some people see 45 x 36 x 20 cm and still cannot really picture what it means. I’m one of those people sometimes. Just tell me plainly: will this fit under the seat or not?

That is one thing I liked about Flight Knight.

I collaborated with the brand Flight Knight, and the box I got is called the BUBBLE Carry-On Cabin Case in cream tan. First of all, the color is beautiful. You know me, I love pretty colors. Most of my boxes have always been black, grey, or just very plain, so I wanted something different this time.

I know cream tan can make you think, “Will it get dirty easily?” I asked myself the same thing. But sometimes, you just have to choose what you actually like. I’ve spent too much time choosing safe colors because I’m worried about stains, so this time I said, let me enjoy a pretty box.

The BUBBLE Carry-On Cabin Case has this bubble design on the outside, and it looks stylish without doing too much. It is made from a durable ABS hard shell, which simply means it is made from a strong, lightweight material that can handle everyday travel better than a soft bag. So, it feels strong, but it does not feel too heavy.

The weight is about 2.55kg, and the capacity is 25L, which is honestly enough for someone like me who does not pack too much.

The size is 45cm high x 36cm wide x 20cm deep, including the wheels. Without the wheels, it is 37cm high x 35cm wide x 20cm deep. The main thing is that this size follows easyJet’s free cabin bag requirement, so it can fit under the seat on easyJet flights as free hand luggage. Flight Knight also says it is compatible with over 100 airlines worldwide, but as always, please check with your airline before traveling, as airlines can be very particular.

One thing to note is that some reviews mentioned that Ryanair may not accept it as a free under-seat bag, so keep that in mind. Ryanair can be very strict with luggage, and if you have used them before, you probably already know how it can go.

The suitcase also comes with a TSA-approved combination lock, which locks the zips together and gives extra peace of mind. In simple words, it means your suitcase has a lock already built into it, and airport security can check it when needed without breaking the lock. I have not even traveled with it properly yet, but I am already excited to use that part.

Inside, it has lined compartments, secure straps, and multi-use pockets. I like that because you can keep things tidy. You can separate shoes, cosmetics, underwear, chargers, or anything you don’t want mixing with your clothes.

It also has a 3-step telescopic handle, so you can adjust the height with a button. The handle is comfortable to hold, and the wheels roll smoothly. This feature is important to me because I have had boxes before that were not rolling freely. I literally was dragging my box. If you are dragging the box, what is the point of having wheels?

This one rolls easily, and that alone makes travel feel less stressful.

I also like that Flight Knight gives a 1-year warranty, and if you register the suitcase, they extend it to 5 years. For a box that costs £49.99, I think that is a good thing.

Now, let’s talk about comfort when traveling.

Comfort is key for me. From my outfit, to my hair, to my face, to my shoes, to my luggage, I dislike anything that complicates travel more than it already is. I don’t even like heavy makeup when I’m traveling. I prefer something light on my face because airports can already be stressful enough.

Flights get cancelled. Flights get delayed. Sometimes you miss a connection. Sometimes you are stuck in an airport longer than you planned. Imagine being in heels, carrying a heavy handbag, with no extra shoes, no comfort, and no plan. That is why I always say practical is better than just looking fashionable when you travel.

You can still look good, but please be comfortable.

And this brings me to those early morning cheap flights.

You know when you see a flight for a very low price, but the flight is at 6am? At first, you feel like you have won. You are thinking, “Yes, I got a bargain.” But then you remember you have to wake up around 3am or 4am, get ready, get to the airport, pass security, and sit there half asleep.

Then you buy coffee. Then breakfast. Maybe a sandwich. Maybe a hot chocolate. Before you know it, you have spent £15 or £20 at the airport. And the flight you refused to book because it was £20 more but at a better time suddenly starts looking like the better choice.

I saw a joke about this on Instagram, and honestly, it is true.

Morning flights can be cheaper for different reasons. Airlines want to start moving planes early so they can fit more flights into the day. Early flights can also be less affected by delays because the aircraft has not yet gone through a full day of possible disruptions. There may also be less demand from people who don’t want to wake up that early, so the prices can sometimes be lower.

But for me, I have reached a stage where if I can afford a more comfortable time, I will choose it. I don’t always want to travel tired and anxious. If I need to take an early flight for a conference, seminar, or something important, I will. But if I’m just going to see a friend or enjoy a short trip, I prefer flights around 11, 12, or 1.

I want to wake up calmly, take my bath, get dressed, and travel without feeling like I’m running from my village people.

One thing I wish brands would do is make detachable wheels. Imagine if you could just pop the tyres off to make it fit in the sizer. But then again, you might lose a wheel while running to your gate, so maybe the current design is safer.

Overall, I think the Flight Knight BUBBLE Carry-On Cabin Case is a lovely travel box, especially if you like to travel light like me. It gives more space than a handbag, it rolls smoothly, it looks good, and it saves your shoulder from doing too much work.

I also used it recently to pack some items I needed for product reviews, so it is not just useful for flights. It can also come in handy for everyday life, road trips, short stays, and moving things around without stress.

So now I finally have a cabin box I can use without worrying too much about whether it will fit.

Just a quick note for my fellow travelers: a couple of reviews mentioned that while this box is wonderful for easyJet and other flights, Ryanair can be a bit more strict and might not allow this specific size as a free under-seat bag. So, just keep that in mind if you are a frequent Ryanair flyer.

Have you ever had luggage issues at the airport? Have you had to pay extra because your bag did not fit? Have you traveled with a handbag or backpack and regretted it because your shoulder and back were crying?

I would love to read your experience because airport luggage stories are always something else.

Thank you so much for reading today’s post. If you are thinking of getting a cabin-size box, you can check out Flight Knight and read through the details properly so you know what you are getting.

  5. Melody, if I'm going somewhere, I prefer to have smaller luggage. When I'm going somewhere for a day, I have a small backpack.

    1. I prefer small luggage in general, especially for holiday trips. I mean, what am I packing? Silk dresses are a handful, and one pair of black heels will do the magic.

  7. Thanks you for all your kind comments. I could not agree more with travel light, too heavy and too many, become a nightmare. This last trip we did to South Africa for 9 weeks we had one medium size case between us. My husband has a balance problem so he can only cope with carrying his brief case. I managed very easily with the wheels on the bigger case, plus a small case in which I had my camera. Thanks for following, I appreciate it. Cheers Diane

    1. I feel like I won't enjoy my trip if I overpack. I do not have a terrible habit of bringing way more than I actually need and end up just dragging heavy bags around. I sincerely hope you enjoyed your recent stay in South Africa; did you have a wonderful time exploring everything over there?

  10. Olá! Linda a mala e bem pequena. Tenho uma de mão que tem as dimensões corretas mas estou evitando usá-la, pois aqui estão despachando até no tamanho correto alegando quando a cabine está cheia.

    Tenha uma ótima semana

    1. Some airlines literally expect people to travel with nothing, but travelers actually need their personal belongings and often can't afford the cost of purchasing new items once they reach their destination.

  12. My husband and I have become really light travelers since we are older and cannot handle heavy luggage. We have traveled for 6 weeks multiple times with just a carry on and a regular sized backpack each. Of course each time has been in the summer when we didn't need heavier clothing. I would like to take more, but we can't carry it. The bubble case looks perfect for a short stay. Thanks for the review

    1. One of the things I keep in mind is ease; how can I make my trip as seamless as possible, and if I need to leave a place, can I grab my luggage and get out just as fast? Do I actually need all those items I am packing, or are they just taking up space? I have travel-specific light clothing, and if it is winter, I am wearing a versatile cardigan and jacket along with the other stuff I pack, but overall, traveling light is my way of life.
