Every week is a chance to learn something new. It could be a random fact, a new skill, or a valuable life lesson. I'd love to hear what caught your attention!
Tell us: What’s one new thing you learned this week?
Share your answer in the comments below! Let's all learn something new.
ReplyDeleteGames are such a great way to unwind, and diving into Egyptian culture must have added a fascinating layer of history and mystery to your week.
Delete- a little bit of humour can save a bad day.
ReplyDelete- spanish and portuguese languages are not as similar as people might think.
- don't quit a job, a course or whatever, before you give it a second chance.
- rem's dreamy melodies and lyrics are very comforting.
- a novel can be really good, even if the writer is not very well know, or if it's now very visible in the bookstore shelters.
So true! They look close at first glance, but once you listen or try speaking, you quickly notice the differences. A great reminder that languages hold their own unique charm.
DeleteI have learnt that in some European countries they have started building roads which use the pressure of cars and tires above for producing energy, what a brilliant idea.
ReplyDeleteThat really is a brilliant idea. Turning something as ordinary as traffic into a source of renewable energy shows how creative solutions can be hiding in plain sight. It makes you wonder what other everyday actions could be transformed into power.
DeleteI learned a new exercise in sports; I really enjoy practicing new movement elements... I also learned a new English word, and there's still a lot to learn... and finally, I'm learning a new technique for working with fabrics; it's fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you.
What a wonderfully varied week of learning! From new exercises to English words and fabric techniques, it sounds like you’re embracing curiosity in every area. It’s inspiring to see someone enjoying the process of discovering new skills.
DeleteI have learned a little more about my iPhone’s photography capabilities. Also a little about applying AI to photos in FB.
ReplyDeleteBoth exploring your phone’s photography and experimenting with AI tools are great combination of skills. It’s amazing how much we can learn just by playing around and trying new features.
DeleteI still can't tolerate mascara. So I will continue to do without it in the future. It was worth a try.
ReplyDeleteSometimes trying something new is just as valuable as sticking with what works for you. It sounds like you gave it a fair shot, and knowing what doesn’t suit you is part of the learning too.
DeleteI like to learn new things every day. :) Yesterday I learned about a French settlement and fort here in Nova Scotia, Canada. It was built in the early 1700's, and then went into the ruin. Parks Canada rebuilt it and wow, it was pretty amazing. They had people dressed in time period clothing and talking about life as those it was that time period, so I learned a lot. I even had lunch similar to how it would have been in those olden days. Hope you learned some new things this week too.
ReplyDeleteRebuilt places like that really bring history to life, especially with people in period clothing and traditional meals. What a memorable way to learn! Thank you for sharing it, and yes, I’ve picked up some new things this week too—it’s always a joy to keep learning.
ReplyDeleteUn caro saluto.
That’s such a wise insight. It’s amazing how much more productive and peaceful life feels when we focus on the moment instead of rushing ahead.
DeleteEvery day is a chance to learn new things...and today I have learned that slowing down is sometimes the best way to speed up...
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said. It’s a lesson that seems simple, but it carries a lot of wisdom—sometimes the surest way forward is to take things at a gentler pace.
DeleteNot this week. But earlier this month i learnt that Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. :)
ReplyDeleteAnnie,
Annies Food Diary
That’s such a powerful lesson. It’s amazing how slowing down with care can actually help things flow more quickly and smoothly in the end.
DeleteAround here, we say you never go to bed without learning something new. Anything, no matter how insignificant, is always interesting. I learned about gardening from plants, specifically one I really like, which decorates the outside of the Alhambra in Granada. It's a climber known as Celestina. It's a Plumago climbing plant with beautiful, hardy flowers, and I have to plant it among my plants at home.
ReplyDeleteBest regards.
Learning about the Celestina sounds delightful. What a lovely connection, from the gardens of the Alhambra to your own home. I can imagine how its hardy beauty will brighten your space once you plant it.
DeleteGreat learning of life
ReplyDeleteLoved it
Yes, some lessons feel small in the moment, but they carry such great meaning for life. It’s wonderful when learning goes beyond facts and touches wisdom.
DeleteI did not really learn something new... but I keep thinking how some people react still surprises me...
ReplyDeleteIn order to try to forget all that, I'm learning how to embroider... I hated it when I was a small child.
Best regards
Marta
It’s true. People can still surprise us, sometimes in ways we don’t expect. Turning to embroidery sounds like a beautiful way to shift your focus. Funny how something we disliked as children can take on new meaning later in life. I hope you find peace and joy in each stitch.
Delete...I try to learn new things daily!
ReplyDeleteThat’s such a wonderful habit. Even the smallest new bit of knowledge each day can add up to a lifetime of growth and curiosity.
DeleteI became acquainted with the painting style of Grzegorz Squire
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful discovery. Exploring a new artist’s style always opens up fresh ways of seeing. I’ll have to look up Grzegorz Squire. Thank you for sharing your find.
DeleteI'm taking a class called Rennie Revisited. A reworking of the artist, Charles Rennie Macintosh. We will also be exploring his Glasgow rose design.
ReplyDeleteCharles Rennie Mackintosh’s work has such a distinctive beauty, and the Glasgow rose is such an elegant design; I checked it out today. I imagine revisiting it with fresh eyes will open up even more layers of creativity.
Jeden dzień podobny do drugiego ostatnio. Serdecznie pozdrawiam Melody
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling well. Even on quiet days, your body and mind are still doing important work—resting and healing counts as learning in its own way. I hope you start feeling better soon and that the coming days bring brighter moments.
DeleteI learned a couple of things about the history of a place we visited while on holiday as I was doing some research for my latest blog post ... xxx
ReplyDeleteResearching the history of a place really brings a visit to life, and it must make your blog post even more engaging for readers.
DeleteI learned that you shouldn't give up reading a book after a few chapters. Read on and it gets better, at least the book I was reading did.
ReplyDeleteThat’s such a great reminder. Some books really do take time to unfold, and the reward comes when we give them the patience to grow on us. I’m glad the one you were reading turned out to be worth it.
Thank you for sharing that. What a powerful lesson. There really are so many voices around us, and it takes discernment to recognize which ones to follow. Staying attentive to God’s voice is such a grounding and life-giving practice.
DeleteCierpliwość. Brak denerwowania. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteSuch wise lessons. Patience and calm decision-making can make such a difference in daily life. Thank you for sharing that reminder, and I hope you have a wonderful day too
DeleteMelody, what was important in my life this week? I think that my mother was called for me on Wednesday at these days on Wednesday. The cardiologist confirmed, unfortunately my mother must have heart asthawa surgery, and on October 8 my mother visits a doctor after last year's cancer surgery.
ReplyDeleteMelody, I wish you a fantastic weekend with many joyful adventures !!!
That is a lot to carry on your heart this week. I’m so sorry to hear about your mother’s upcoming surgery and her continued health challenges. I hope the appointment on October 8 brings clarity and encouragement. Please know I’ll be keeping her—and you—in my prayers. Thank you for your kind wishes, and I hope your weekend also brings moments of peace and strength.
DeleteI learned that sometimes, I need to be social, even though I don't feel like it. Connection is important from time to time. I hope you have a great weekend <3
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
You are right; sometimes we don't feel like it, but we need to, and in that moment we can channel our mind toward it in a healthy way.
DeleteNothing new, just a reminder that I need to listen to my body
ReplyDeleteThis is a good one, which is very important.
DeleteThis is a great question. I learned a new technique for my art.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is lovely to hear. Thank you for sharing.
DeleteI learn something new every day!
ReplyDeleteIt is important to be open to learning new things that are positive. Good one, Chatty.
DeleteLearnt the joy of giving, again.
ReplyDeleteThat is so beautiful, Margaret.
DeleteRight now I am reading a book called The Barn. It's a story about Emmett Till. I've been trying to educate myself more about the oppression and silencing of African American voices that's been going on in the United States for many decades. This is a story that's so important to this country's history, yet it's one not many know about because it's something that some people want to stay buried. I've heard his name in passing, but am ashamed to admit I've never really dug into who he was and why his death needs a light shined on it. I'm sure there are other things I've learned as well, but I feel like this was the most important thing I've learned this week.
ReplyDeleteLearning about Emmett Till and his story is both heartbreaking and deeply important. You’re right. It’s a part of history that was silenced for too long, but shedding light on it helps ensure it is not forgotten. It takes courage to face difficult truths, and your willingness to learn speaks to a genuine heart.
DeleteAs my customer is from Vienna I learn some Austrain words... We laugh a lot...
ReplyDeleteThat's such a fun thing to do. I bet it makes your conversations so much more special, too. It's a great way to connect with people.
Wow, you were so productive this week. It's incredible that you dove into so many different things, art, literature, and even self-improvement. I've never heard of that "six hats" technique before, but the idea of needing three options to make a real choice is really interesting. It makes so much sense.
DeleteFor me it was learning different aspects of these:Patience is a virtue, and I've learned that using the right tone of voice goes a long way in communication. Although I was aware of this, I practiced it even more this week. I also decided to take a step toward building wealth and made sure to remember my devotional text.
---
DeleteI totally get what you mean. It's wild how the same energy can be seen so differently by people. It sounds like you're really self-aware, though, which is such a valuable thing to be. It's a journey, for sure.
I'm so glad you like the post. It's one of my favorite parts, too—seeing what everyone else is up to. It makes the world feel a little smaller and a lot more connected.
Beijinhos fraternos
That's so lovely. It's awesome that you're learning new things and getting to experience them. Thank you for the kind wishes, and you have a blessed week.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteMine is more of a reminder, not to procrastinate. Take care, enjoy your day and happy weekend.
It's so easy to put things off, but it's always worth it to get them done. Thanks for the good wishes, and I hope you have a great day.
DeleteI learned how to edit my photos better!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
That's awesome. It's so cool when you can learn a new skill that lets you be more creative. It really gives you a new way to express yourself. What kind of photos are you most excited to edit now?
ReplyDeleteOh no, that is incredibly frustrating. What did you learn from it?
DeleteThe Autumn equinox is happening on Monday and I learned that this is going to be the day that the earth will be perfectly angled sideways to the sun and so day and night will be equal.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a cool and interesting detail to notice. It's amazing how the Earth's tilt and movement create these special moments in the year. The autumn equinox really is a beautiful reminder of the changing seasons and the balance between day and night. Thanks for sharing that!.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a great way to learn new things. Podcasts are perfect for that because you can listen while you're doing other stuff. It's awesome that you found a way to fit history into your busy week. Do you have a favorite history podcast you'd recommend?
Deletejust yesterday i learned that i should never pass up on an adventure, even when i am exhausted. i pushed on and had the best time ever!! i also learned that i am stronger than i think!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing lesson to learn. It's so easy to let tiredness win sometimes. Discovering your own strength is the best part of all. Thanks for sharing this. It's really inspiring.
DeleteI learned how to make a new recipe that I tried this week. I love trying new foods and I tried canned squid in ink and I learned that I don't like it. lol
ReplyDeleteThat's a great example of a learning experience! It's so fun to try out new recipes, and it's just as important to learn what you don't like as what you do. At least now you know.
DeleteI learned to slow down. Thats hard :)
ReplyDeleteThat's such an important and difficult lesson to learn. I feel like we all get caught up in moving fast and crossing things off our to-do lists. It's really wonderful that you're making time for that. I hope it brings you some peace and a fresh perspective.
DeleteI learned how to use some more advanced features of Photoshop, been putting it off.
ReplyDeleteThat's so awesome! I know how it can be easy to put off learning new skills, especially with complicated programs like that. It's really cool that you took the time to do it. What's the most exciting new feature you learned how to use?
I think it's so cool that you went back to your hometown. It's amazing how those places can bring up new thoughts and memories. What you learned about John Lennon is so sad, but it really adds another layer to his story. It makes you think about all the things that shaped the people we admire.
DeleteHave a great start to spring too.
I can still survive tough things
ReplyDeleteThat's an incredibly powerful thing to realize. Thanks for sharing this. It's a great inspiration for anyone going through a tough time.
DeleteI learned that ultimately human behavior can fix or ruin many things!!
ReplyDeleteThat's so true and really insightful. It's a reminder of how much power we all have, both for good and for bad. It makes me want to be more mindful of my own actions and the impact they have on others.
DeleteThis week I learned that being a quiet observer turns you from just a spectator into a participant, you feel more connected to nature that way.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a beautiful way to put it. I've always thought of observing as something passive, but what you said makes so much sense. It's like you're not just looking at the world, you're actually a part of it. I love that idea.
DeleteI've been away for most of the past week, in Dumfries and Galloway where I learned a lot about Robert Burns at the Ellisland Museum which is based at the farm where he lived for a few years and wrote some of his best known poems. One of the most surprising things at this museum was to find a cookery book, as used by Burns' wife, which included a recipe for curry!
ReplyDeleteI'm a great believer in learning something new every day, as I work mostly in adult education
An amazing trip. It's so cool that you got to visit a place with so much history, and what a fascinating fact to discover. Who would have thought that curry was being made in Scotland all the way back then? I love when you learn something totally unexpected like that.
DeleteI learned Fish Pose in Yoga. Then I did some research to find out why just this pose made me nauseous
ReplyDeleteThat's a super interesting thing to learn. I can see how that would make you curious. It sounds like there could be a few reasons for it, maybe something to do with your vagus nerve or even blood pressure. It's smart to listen to your body and figure out what's going on. Thanks for sharing.
DeleteMaking a new home involves lots of new things. Learning to choose a perfect item is my recent “acquisition”. Oh, and making a pause! In a chaos of chores stop and do something pleasant for yourself, like sitting on the balcony with a book or go for a walk in the park🙋♀️😘😘
ReplyDeleteThat's so true. It's amazing how much you learn when you're setting up a new place. I love your point about taking a pause. That's probably the most important lesson of all. It's so easy to get caught up in everything, but those little breaks make all the difference.
Saludos.
It's amazing how you can be around something for years and still discover something new about it. It must have felt pretty special to see that image of the Virgin after all that time. It sounds like a really meaningful experience, especially since you had that connection to it as a child.
DeleteI loved this post and reading comments is fun 🤗
ReplyDeleteI learnt about ancient wisdom about acupressure it was truly Amazing 👌👍♥️
That's awesome. It's so cool when you learn something that's been around for ages but is still so relevant. Acupressure is super interesting, and it's amazing how much it can help.
DeleteI learned several eco-friendly methods of getting a groundhog burrowed under your house to leave. Now, to see if they actually work!
ReplyDeleteHaha, that sounds like a very practical skill to have. I hope you're successful and that the groundhog decides to find a new home somewhere else. Let us know if one of the methods works.
Delete
