According to Isaac Asimov, “The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.”

International Labour Day (May Day), May 1

International Workers' Day, also known as Labour Day but also referred to as May Day in most countries is a celebration of laborers and workers in our society. 1 May was chosen to be International Workers' Day to commemorate the 1886 Haymarket affair in Chicago. In that year beginning on 1 May, there was a general strike for the eight-hour workday.  It became a yearly commemoration, inspiring American workers to have their first stoppage. Mayday is a public holiday, so don't forget to relax, have fun and unwind.

Happy International Labour day, what do you do for a living? comment below.

  1. Fraternal greetings.

Nowadays I’m retired, so I don’t actually do anything for a living anymore. However, up to five years ago, I worked in the NHS breast and cervical screening programme on the admin side. Lasting for 22 years it was the longest job I ever held, and took up over half of my working life.

  2. Working with my hands in unison with my brain manufacturing goods, useful for some members of the community, otherwise the company I am working for won’t be able paying my wage.

A tough market these days, especially in a developed country like Australia, where a lot of manual jobs for the sake of profits for the employers or business owners have been shifted to slave labour nations.

Our market are increasingly highly specialized projects, challenging and requiring new solutions to onsite demands. Which is making it a rewarding occupation, not completing the same tasks, day in, day out, all the time.

Unfortunately industrial robots are getting smarter every day, removing us humans from such worksites one day. My career in that field will soon be over on reasons of age, although what incentive is there for a young person wanting to build a career from an apprenticeship upwards ?

  3. Nothing, I am disabled and am currently unemployed.

With Covid-19 and Brexit affecting the U.K. economy I doubt I’ll get another job.

“He Asked For Wisdom” Monday, June 16, 2025

Key Verse “Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?” (2 Chronicles 1:10) Text —2 Chronicles 1:1-10 Message William Shakespeare says, “The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.” When God gave Solomon the opportunity as “king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude” (verse 9) to ask what He would give him, Solomon knew he needed wisdom to reign in David his father’s stead. So, instead of asking for riches, power, and other mundane things of this life like the people of the world would do, he asked for wisdom. The Scripture admonishes young people saying, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil” (Proverbs 3:5-7). We all know the sinking feeling we have when we do something poorly. Lack of wisdom brings disgrace and pain but wisdom in trials makes us useful to God and to fellow men. Only wise young people strive to serve God well and have great influence for greater good. Quote Lack of wisdom brings disgrace Challenge Allow God to direct your paths. Prayer for today Dear God, grant me more wisdom, in Jesus’ name.
