one mistake bloggers make that hunts them later: Metisuboutique.com

Over the years, commenting system has been a very big challenge to bloggers, I have migrated from blogger to google plus commenting system. I had an issue with my blog commenting system and invited someone to solve the issue and she wiped off all the comments from the previous years and never replied my emails anymore. I kept using google plus and just realized how I have been missing out. Google plus commenting system is not flexible and I will totally recommend that if you open a blog, it is better to use the commenting system that comes with the blog. I know that we all want something fanciful and more interactive like disqus and google plus but I strongly will recommend using what ever commenting system your blog provider comes with.
I decided to migrate from google plus back to the normal blogger commenting system and I must say it really hurts seeing that all your lovely comments will no more be visible.

Blogging is a journey and it comes with a lot of sacrifices and discipline to always do what is best for your blog. So, my little advice to any new blogger, is read about commenting systems before you embark on this journey.
I joined the google forum for question and answer
What is the best commenting system?

Hi Melody,
Thanks for sharing your question today - and welcome to the Blogger Support forums.

Both Blogger and Google+ comments have their advantages. Blogger Comments allow you more flexibility, in that you can allow anonymous comments - and you can moderate comments from your dashboard. Google+ comments let you combine your Blogger and Google+ activity - and let you free yourself from moderation. Google+ comments are moderated by the community - and require a Google+ account, for participation meaning if a reader doesn't have a google plus account he/she can not comment on your blog.

Do you and your readers use Google+, in general? If so, your readers might enjoy Google+ comments. Google+ comments encourage sharing more by your readers - and may provide more publicity for your blog. (The purpose of google plus is to promote easy sharing but who actually shares from google plus commenting)?

Are you familiar with the "FOF" ("Friend of a Friend") concept? That's what social sharing services like FaceBook and Google+ are based on. (People share my post from the share buttons on my website more).
So the answer to your question depends upon what your readers are like. Google+ offers opportunity for growing your reader audience which is always said but not that functional, that Blogger comments lack.
Do you know that you can not display the number of comments on your blog if you are using the google plus commenting system?, migration is very difficult (sometimes can not be done) with google plus and fixing comment issues when using google plus is very complicated.
Blogger is way more easily and simpler during migration  and html fixation.

Wondering about disqus or other third party commenting systems, I appreciate the concept behind disqus and how it connects bloggers and encourages commenting, but disqus moderation is way much sometimes, and if you are blocked, requesting your account to be unblocked is difficult, if people are not following you on the disqus platform then it is same as having a simple commenting system. I also get a little withdrawn because some commenting systems  have closed down after some years.

I will like to hear from you, what is the best or most preferable commenting system to use on any website or blog?

  4. What a lovely dress dear! Totally loving it and suits you so well!! :)

And in my case, I'm using the comment system that comes with my blog (using wordpress) and I'm totally happy with it. I had some inicdents with spam comments but apart from that all fine - I'm moderating and accepting comments and it works out fine.
I think google can be very limiting - sometimes I cant even comment on blogs because I need to login with my gmail and so on..so this scares off comments I guess...

    Have a lovely day ♥

    1. You are right, google plus is not flexible, one of the aims of commenting is allowing everyone to express themselves.

  5. All of this information is really helpful. It can be so hard to know what is the best choice. I like using the comment system that came with my blog and it seems to do well for what I need!

  7. Ugh that sucks! I'm so sorry that happened and that she wiped the comments. So sad. I personally love Wordpress commenting the most, never once had an issue with it in 8 years. Disqus is really good as well!
