New Google Search Links: Supercharge Your Blog & Help Readers Dive Deeper

New Blogger beta feature: A hand points to an article on a laptop screen showing new automatic search links embedded in the text.

Hey everyone. How are you doing today?

Get ready for some truly fantastic news that just dropped from Google, and it's going to make our blog an even more incredible place to hang out and learn. If you're anything like me, you love digging into topics, getting those "aha!" moments, and sometimes, you want to know more about a specific point I've made. Well, Google just gave us a new tool to do exactly that, right here on the blog.

Google has rolled out a brand-new beta feature called "Google Search links" for Blogger, and I'm already buzzing about the possibilities. I even used it for this post. This isn't just a cool gadget; it's a way to create a more engaging, interactive, and genuinely helpful reading experience for all of you.

So, What Are These New Google Search Links?

It's actually pretty clever and super easy on my end (which means more time for me to write awesome content for you). Here's the gist:

Based on the content of my blog posts, Blogger will now automatically identify keywords and phrases within my writing. When you're reading, these identified terms will become clickable links. And where do they lead? Straight to relevant Google Search results.

Think of it this way:
  • I write a post about, say, "digital marketing strategies."
  • Google's tech might pick up on phrases like "SEO optimization," "content marketing," or "social media trends."
  • If you're reading and think, "Hmm, I'd like a quick overview of 'SEO optimization'," you can simply click that phrase.
  • Voila! A Google Search page opens with results for "SEO optimization," letting you explore further without ever leaving the flow of the blog post.

It's like having an intelligent research assistant built right into the blog.

Why I'm So Excited About This (And Why You Should Be Too)

This isn't just about bells and whistles; it's about genuinely enhancing your reading experience and making our blog even more valuable.
  • Deeper Dives, Instantly: You no longer have to copy a term, open a new tab, and paste it into Google if you want more info. It's one click, and you're there. This means you can easily expand on any concept that piques your interest.
  • No Interruption to Your Flow: The beauty is that it's optional. If you're happy just reading my article, great! But if a specific keyword sparks your curiosity, the information is just a click away, seamlessly integrated.
  • Better Understanding: This feature helps you grasp complex topics more thoroughly by giving you immediate access to supplementary information.
  • Fresh & Engaging Content: For me as a creator, it means I'm offering you a dynamic, modern reading experience that stands out. Google is literally helping make my content more helpful and interactive!
How I'm Using It (And How to Spot It)

Right now, these Google Search links are a "beta feature," meaning they're new and being refined. I'll be actively exploring them in my Blogger Compose View. I'll be looking for a special 'Pencil' icon on the top-right of the page to manage these new links.

You'll start seeing these clickable phrases appearing in my upcoming posts (and maybe even some older ones as I update them!). Keep an eye out for them – they'll be subtle but incredibly useful.

I'm committed to making this blog the best resource it can be for you, and this new Google feature is a fantastic step in that direction. I can't wait to hear what you think as you start interacting with these new search links!

Happy reading, and happy exploring.

  4. I did notice that last night when I was doing my post but had no idea what it meant, so I opted out, not that I have anything that exciting that I do on my blog :)

    1. I’m sure once you spot the pencil symbol, it’ll all make sense. You’ve got a good eye for details, so you’ll notice it soon enough.

  12. I am personally not excited about this feature for my own blog and hope that it will remain optional. If there is a link in a post, I want to know that it was chosen mindfully by the person who wrote the post rather than by Google, who may want to direct traffic one way or another. I appreciate that you are excited about this feature for your own blog - and since many of your posts are research intensive, that is totally understandable. That being said, I really do hope it will be an optional feature, because I do not want a bunch of links added to my posts that I did not authorize and do not want. I will have to research this feature more in the next little while, because it is something I am opposed to for my own blog. It seems like an overreach of power that takes away choice from bloggers.

    1. I completely understand your concerns. Maintaining control over your own content is fundamental. It is an optional feature. You can choose to use it or not; it's all your choice, dear. I did not use it for my last post because I didn't need to, but it is an option, so no worries.
