I know many of you feel the same way, but I also know that life gets busy, or sometimes our bodies don't allow us to do as much as we’d like. That’s why I’ve decided that 2026 is the year we start supporting one another in a real, tangible way.
Why Movement Matters (Even the Smallest Bits!)We often think "exercise" means a high-intensity gym session, but health is really about circulation and intention. Taking time to move helps our mental clarity, reduces stress, and keeps our joints happy.
I want to form a beautiful community where we encourage each other to do more—but "more" looks different for everyone. It doesn’t matter how minimal it feels; even if you can only move your hands, your legs, or small parts of your body, let’s get them moving!
How the "Saturday Movement" WorksEvery Saturday, I’ll be sharing my movement journey as a blog post. I might include my step count on my smart wristwatch or just talk about my entire experience with moving. Whether I was hiking through a forest or just doing light stretches at home, riding a bicycle, or walking your dog, I’ll post about it. Then, I will host a Link-Up right here on the blog!
You can link your own blog post and share how many minutes, hours, or even seconds you moved your body that week. It’s all about accountability and love.
Where can you move? Anywhere!In Nature: Local parks, forest trails, or a walk by the beach.
In Your Neighborhood: A quick stroll around the block or a walk to a local cafe.
At Home: Walking from room to room, mindful stretching in your chair, or even a little "living room dance" while the kettle boils!
At Work: Taking the long way to the breakroom or doing some neck and shoulder rolls at your desk.

I truly believe that slowing down and listening to our bodies is the first step to better health.
Always start slowly and progress at your pace. Build up your pace and don't rush into it. Share your stories, how you felt during and after, and what you saw during your movements. The experience should be enjoyable and invigorating, rather than solely concentrating on the movement.

This is not a contest. It is accountability and encouragement.

DeleteHi Melody, I like the idea a lot and of the choices offered, I like the name " The Fresh Air Fellowship" . I walk every morning in nature on the along the ocean or Marina for an hour. I've never thought of doing a weekly post about being out moving in nature.

DeleteDoing outdoor activities is always a good idea; you discover beautiful landscapes every time. Get some exercise, and if the sun is out, your body also absorbs vitamin D. I admit that given the recent rain, I haven't been going for my training walks in the woods for a while, but I hope to resume them on weekends as soon as possible (weather permitting).
ReplyDeleteYou always discover something new and feel refreshed when you get back. It's always a good way to end or start the week. I also dislike the rain, particularly the wet leaves; however, I have pushed myself beyond my comfort zone to enjoy nature even on slightly rainy days, because in Scotland, it can rain for weeks, and exercising outdoors while walking in nature is beneficial, especially since seasonal depression is a real issue.

ReplyDeleteSpeaking of fresh air and exercise, I'm happy because yesterday was a true spring – 28 degrees Celsius in the sun! It was warm today too, but unfortunately, the sky was partly cloudy and there was a slight breeze… I was cleaning up the garden after winter.
Melody, to answer your question: I like the names "Open Meadow Circle" and "Open Sky Movement" the most.
Despite my fondness for summer, I've come to understand that the seasons are fleeting. Even though the cold, rainy season isn't my best, we still move around at all seasons and make sure that we keep our bodies going. I don't like a cloudy day, but can I stop it? No. The names you like, "Open Meadow Circle" and "Open Sky Movement," are actually very moving, and they also focus on the goal. Thank you, Anna.

ReplyDeleteyour idea is very good with the appropriate adjustments to each of our situations. One can walk and exercise outside in nature, another in the gym, another at home. Every option is good.
Regarding the name of your movement, I personally like it best: OPEN SKY MOVEMENT
For example, I walk every day with my dog, do some exercises on public exercise equipment in the park or at home. Finally, I use my bike as much as I can.

DeleteLove this idea! Love all those names but "Fresh Air Fellowship" caught my eye. Have you ever heard of Justin Agustin? He is a Canadian who tries to make people move every day. He is awesome. "A body in motion stays in motion". Nature is healing. We were created for the garden, I believe. Best wishes. x

DeleteToo many people think that exercise must be intensive and strenuous. It can be, if you want it to be, but the best advice is to just keep moving.

ReplyDeleteLa mia media di passi al giorno è sui 7000, ma quando viene la bella stagione nel fine settimana il valore di norma raddoppia.
I love that! There is something so freeing about navigating a small town on foot. 7,000 steps is a solid daily goal, but those 14,000+ step weekends when the sun comes out are the absolute best. It’s the perfect way to really see where you live.

DeleteI love nature too! Other than exploring parks, I also like sitting in my backyard with my feet in the pool, and just watch and listen to all the birds in our trees and the neighbors trees. It's a great reminder for me of God's glory.

ReplyDelete- я прошла шагов за пять дней: 16200+13100+10700+16000+11200=67000. Интересно, до куда я могла дойти, если бы шла по прямой, не сворачивая и не останавливаясь?
- я сходила на одну силовую тренировку в тренажёрный зал, и на одну групповую тренировку "здоровая спина".
- в один из дней я пошла в зал не короткой, а длинной дорогой через парк: +30 минут.
В парке красиво, много снега, я делала фото по пути, и просто любовалась, как искрится снег на солнце, как катаются лыжники по ледяному пруду, как начинают суетиться птички в ожидании весны, разглядывала следы на снегу.
А названия мне все нравятся, думаю, ты сможешь выбрать то, которое ближе большинству участников.
